Hey all, It pains me a great deal to say this because the guys and I have been looking forward to playing next week for months. However we lost one of our guitarists and the transition has taken longer and been more complicated than we thought. We're parting ways with Joe as friends but we were unable to find a replacement until just this past Wednesday. There just isn't time to get the guy up to speed and he's not available in any event for the saturday gig. We thought about trying it minus the one guitar but since our stuff is written for two guitar slots, one of which is a gunslinger, we just can't plug that hole. Of course, the drummer and I valiantly tried to compensate with Moon/Entwistle bottom end pyrotechnics, but...alas...to no avail. We wanted to thank everyone for the support given that you'd never even heard us and hope we can get a slot for next year's rally. And just to say...this does not give anyone permission to make up stupidass bass jokes or stick stuffed fish in my backrest this year...we tried. See you all Friday... BB

A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

Does this mean the rest of us can't jam anyway? Even if YOTA won't be there to sit in?
I hope not!

Yeah man, I think there are enough of us to put on a serious jam session...
I can play the harp part for Roadhouse Blues like nobody's business.

I was in a number of garage & bar bands over the years, and one former band mate described it very well - "Being in a band is like being married to [x number of] people."
Anyway, sorry to hear it didn't work out. Better days ahead. Guitarists are fortunately often the easiest to replace. Good bass players, (the most important member of any band) on the other hand...
I think this calls for a few choice guitar jokes -
Q - If you're out fishing, and a rusty lawn chair and a guitar both fall out of the boat, what the difference?
A - You would jump in to save the lawn chair
`````````````````
Q - What's the difference between a guitar and a chain saw?
A - You can tune the chain saw
Martin, Well...hopefully the guy we picked up last week will stick and work out. We'll see. And, no argument from me on being the tough one to find.  Guitarists are a dime a dozen around here. But the local music boards are ALWAYS crawling with ads for bassists. BB
John, Tell me about it. I've been looking forward to it since I left last year. But the guitarist that left had been in a bad riding accident three years ago on the way to a blessing and this was his first real try at doing something again. But he's just not able to do it. Standing, playing in cramped spaces, schlepping gear...so ... we start over. It'll get there. See you soon BB
