When the cruisers get EFI, how much of a HP benefit over the carb bikes do you think we'll see in a stock EFI vs stock carbed?

Not enough to feel the difference. Just look at Harley the last however many years they've been offering the option of carbs or EFI. I've never heard a Harley owner say that his EFI bike could outrun another Harley owner who had carbs.

I agree with Sal,
IF and WHEN they ever go to EFI it will probably be a pretty tame setup (substitute "reliability").
Of course, you could always have it re-mapped.

Derek,

Perhaps not with EFI alone on an air-cooled bike, but as I just stated on another thread, the BMW 800 ST comes to mind which also has an EFI'd parallel twin engine and the performance figures (claimed) are impressive. Of course with the added benefit of water cooling. Same goes for the Yamaha 900 TDM.
I don't know how much performance benefit comes from the EFI and how much from the liquid cooling.

I think they have higher compression too.
The main difference EFI would make on engines like ours would be better adaptability to altitude changes. (A big deal out here in the West.)

My best guess is $1500 MSRP, triple the complexity, and quadruple parts pricing. I'll keep my '03 Speedy.

That's why I bought the 06 Speedy.... EFI is just way too much of a pain if something breaks in the middle of nowhere...
I rode my Harley from San Diego to Ohio... no problems at all with the carbs, no adjusting necessary. The only problem was some of the statioins has that watered down gas, so my milage dropped a bit going over the Rockies, but no loss of power.
I also rode my Yammy FJR 1300 to Cali and back... but that's a totally different animal... it dont' like to run the speed limit.
Got the airbox off the Speedy and rejetted yesterday... so of course it's raining today... (
But it pulls like a SOB, my mech went with 160's, instead of the 170's that wre with the freak kit...sounds MEAN!
Not more motorboat putput..... <hehehehe>
