I have to be off of my bike for the next few months. I have to have some electrical work done on my heart. I will be traveling from Florida to the Cleveland Clinic in two weeks. Have surgery scheduled for 27 Sept. My family and my bike are the brass ring on this ride that I will keep reaching for. Anyway...I need sugestions on what I need to do to the Blue Bonnie while I am out of the saddle. Last time this happened I did not put any wax on the chrome and had some pitting. (I live in South Florida..hot & Humid). So I guess I am asking this off you fellow members who live up North. What do you recommend for a two or three month lay up. Energy is another factor, I have none. What is easy to do and what should I have a mech do. Thanks/Mark :

An easy totally labor free way is to spray fine oil all over the chrome and metal bits. Kinda messy to clean up later, but it will prevent rusting or pitting. Put on a heavy coat of wax and don't cover the bike. lift the wheels off the ground if you can. Change to oil and filter, fill gas tank, add Stabil to gas. Run bike for a few minutes then shut off fuel and let it run until it stalls when it runs out the gas in the carbs. Take it easy, we'll root for ya!
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

What Pat said on the bike. My wife had some kind of electrial short fixed a few years back. BIG, HUGE improvement in her lifestyle. I hope you recover as quickly and as well as she did. Get ready for more energy! Mike Sr.

Good luck to you. The techniques available today to take care of our electrical issues are so good that you'll be back in the saddle before you know it. Be well.

Hey man. I ride an '03 BA. In Sept. 04 I had a Quad. 4 Bypass Open Heart surgery and could not ride for 6 weeks. That did not stop me from the maintenance required to keep the BA road ready. In fact, the thought of my next ride gave me the energy to keep going. It has been 2 years now and I have'nt looked back. Good luck; you will ride again and enjoy it all the more. Nomadhank
