Hey folks,

I'm a new owner. Thanks for all the good wishes.

Here's a strange question but maybe someone is in the know: Does anyone know just how much good the AI rig does for the environment/emissions. I'm sort of a fan of the planet so I don't like the idea of increasing emissions, but the blueing is breaking my heart. Any thoughts?

I can hardly spout about increasing greenhouse gas emissions (!), but I wouldn't worry too much about it ... I imagine the amount of crap a bike kicks out compared to say, a big car, is next to nothing.

Pull the AI without worrying.

You are still using up the same amount of gas (doesn't help MPG) so the minute difference in emissions is all you would be putting out.

yank that puppy ! more CO2 just means bigger crop yields and milder winters

A while back someone posted some numbers and it was about a 2% increase in carbon monoxide. I can't verify the source but they were from CA.

The miniscule increase in co emissions can easily be
offset by parking your car, and riding your bike!

CTNewbie, I think you are still putting out the same emissions, because there is no equipment on these bikes to convert stuff line carbon monoxide or hydrocarbons. The AI is just helping burn off some unburnt fuel in the exhaust, the product of which is carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons, so really, IMHO at least, the AI isn't doing anything except maybe fooling the sniffers when the bikes are certified to meet "emissions standards". Now the German-market bikes come with a Catalytic converter, there it might make a difference!

Seems to me the AI would actually increase the emission of CO2. The AI causes a more efficient burn of the gasoline. It prevents unburned gas from venting into the athmosphere. Unburned gas is bad because it contains stuff like xylene and benzene and other gasoline nastiness. It's basically toxic. If the gas is burned, the hydrocarbon molecule is split and recombined with oxygen, nitrogen and whatever else is in the air to make CO2, carbon monoxide, water, NO2, and other stuff. If the molecule doesn't burn, it doesn't recombine to make the CO2. It just vents as vaporized gasoline. Neither is good. The only answer is that everyone rides a bicycle. But then everyone would be sweaty. How good can that be?

My feeling is that even with my AI pulled and my high powered mods I'm still polluting less than the Hummers and the Expeditions.
