Anyone familiar with how these stack up vs. Avons, Metzelers, etc.? Found a local guy that can get a pretty good deal on 'em. Thanks.

You get pretty good mileage from Dunlops and they are a good tire but if you want handling go with Metzler or Avon. I guess it just depends on what you're looking for in a tire. If you ever ride Avons you'll be spoiled forever.. best riding/handling tire i've ever run. The Metzlers are a real close second but last a bit longer.

I think Chy is right. Avon's and Metzlers will outhandle the Dunlops. I recently bought a Dunlop for the rear but money was a consideration.(I didn't have much ) I think it was about $98 and they wanted about $160 for the Avon's. I've been told Dunlops are pretty good tires. They are stock on many bikes.

I've run the Dunlop D404 on my bike for years now and am very happy with the bike. I'm not much into the corner carving but I wanted a tire that would last long and ride nice. The Dunlop delivers on both fronts.

I've had Bridgestone, like every other BA owner here followed by Avon and due to a roadside emergency, Dunlops. The Dunlops are working fine, I seem to go through the same corners at the same speeds as when the Avons were mounted up. All things considered, I'd give the Avons a nod in handling and feel. They just feel "sticky" .
The rear Avon blew up around 8K miles, I have ~7K on the Dunlop 404 and the tread pattern is still looking sound. Next set? Who knows
