What would you do if your bike broke when riding with friends? Would you ride two-up or wait with your bike? Would it depend on the location? Would it depend on who you were with? Would it depend on how far you had to go?
I post this because we were riding today and my brother-in-laws bike quit and he refused to ride two-up. In his words "I ain't riding bit(h".

When I "Gently" set my bike on its side and broke the clutch lever, I rode bee-atch on the back of Nancys BA. Maybe I'm just more secure in who and what I am cause it don't bother me. Side of the road break down I may stay with the bike cause towers have screwed up my bikes. But riding bee-atch don't bug me.

Personally, I think calling it the b1tch seat is an insult to every female passenger ever. I have been guilty of it in the past, so shame on me too.
I would ride pillion if my bike was secured but would not leave the bike otherwise.

Sounds like he may be a little insecure! I would hesitate to leave my bike in some areas just because she's my baby, but if I were in a good area, and I knew I would get my bike picked up quickly by leaving her for a short time, I'd climb up behind anybody to get that accomplished. H_ll, I even rode in a pink T-Shirt the other day (with clownfish on the front)!!! I wish I could get my wife to learn to ride, so I'd have a more interesting ride home if my bike did break down! It could be kind of fun riding two up behind the right lady!

But I'd wait for the AA (rescue service) to arrive. I wouldn't leave her on her own....

You could always lash his legs together and his arms to his sides and drape him over the pillion like a fallen cowboy. That way he could "save face", unless it bounced off the rear wheel a few times on the trip home....

Those who refer to the fairer sex who ride as passengers on the back of motorcycles as B###### are neanderthals. Up to an and including any 1% M/C members who think this is OK. Its simply low class and is BS. That includes Hells Angels, Outlaws, and any other M/C members small and large known or unknown , famous or infamous.

My OL calls it that. She also has a shirt that says, "This ****** rides her own bike".
As for breaking down, if it's nowhere near home, there is no option but to stay with it. Around here, they will steal the dog poo out of your yard and if you leave yout bike unattended for 10 minutes, it will be gone too.

A few years back while at the WSB races in Monterey CA, my '95 Sprint gave up the ghost, and I hopped on the back of my friend's Road King.
The last time I rode on the back of somebody else's bike had to be at least 30 years prior to this, due to another "unscheduled stop".
And here's what I "rediscovered".
Even though my friend is a very experienced and very good rider, I absolutely HATED the feeling that I was dependent on somebody else's ability to ride well.(and that especially means riding DEFENSIVELY)
So....I guess I have to give my wife a lot o' credit for her "faith" in my abilities in this matter, whenever she's seated behind me on the BA.
To paraphrase Kipling..."you're a better[and braver] pillion than I, Gunga Din...er, I mean Judie!"

No way in the world would I leave my bike on the side of the road. I'll ride pillion if I have to, but I'm too much a believer in Murphy's Law to go before the tow truck arrives. That being said, I would be quietly terrified on a bike I do not control. I think most good riders are bad passengers.

Whenever our group rides, we stick together. If someone has a bike issue we take care of that person & bike. On some of our rides, we have had a clutch cable break, a bike died, an electrical harness came loose and also a hole punched in the oil filter. We all stayed to handle the situation. I and the people I ride with would never take off and leave a member of the group on the side of the road unless it was to get some help.

Well we pushed the bike to a nearby gas station and he waited 2 hours while we rode home to get my truck and trailer. I think it was the right thing to do. We tried fixing the bike for an hour with no luck. he has fuel injection and it seemed to be a fuel pump or something that controlled the fuel injection. I have to say that at least a dozen other bikes stopped which was nice but no one had a clue what was causing the problem.

Perfectly written post agree 100%. Anyhow, I would stay with the bike. Quote:

I would have stayed with my bike and waited for the pickup truck also, But if that were not possible and the bike was secured I would ride pillion. By the way, this is the first time I have heard the term bltch seat and I DON'T LIKE IT!!
if life gives you lemons keep them because hey, free lemons.

Call me nieve, I never new the pillion seat was called the Bit(t seat. Learn something new everyday. I guess that stems from those 'If you can read this, the b fell off' shirts. If you dont mind i will continue to call the seat on the back as the seat on the back, or passenger seat. I must confess, i dont know any bitches, except my two little dogs. They are both bitches, but i wont let them on the back of the bike.
Would i ride two up, depends on who i am on the back off. I would have to trust them and their riding ability. I have been in a crash while on the back of a bike and it was the most frightning all of the wrecks i have had (there has been a few) and i think that comes from knowing you have absolutley no control over of the situation.

NOW Phil, aren't you assuming an AWFUL lot that it's an insult to women. I mean, if I ever had you on the back of my bike, that would kind of make you my bi#ch now wouldn't it...

How big is your brother in law? Nice of him to acknowledge your offer with a smile and a gracious "thanks" for offering - even though he WAS having a bad day. Broken bikes make even the nicest people act like out of character prix sometimes. Also, where did the bike give up the ghost? Was there any danger of having it ripped off or stripped if it was left behind where it was?

On the OTHER hand, what were you wearing when you offered? If it was anything like a pink shirt with a clownfish on the front, I'm pretty certain I'd be inclined to turn down the offer myself!

As a friend of mine said a few years ago when I offered to give him a lift "If there's two guys on a motorcycle, one of them better be carrying a gas can."
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.
