I was heading home from work yesterday about 6:15 on a six lane divided boulevard just east of one of the busiest intersection around so envision lots of traffic. Right in front of me, I see this guy run across all six lanes to the other side (AND making it!) without looking left or right! A couple of cars produce smoke and one gets a little sideways! First thing I thought was, what a friggin idiot. Next thing I see is a police SUV, lights and siren going, coming across traffic, bouncing across the median, and hauling butt after the guy! Too much traffic to pay attention to that so I shrug it off and move on. By the time I get to the intersection, 3 more police cruisers are beat feeting it to the scene.

I turn at the intersection heading north on another six lane divided boulevard and as usual, give the truck some throttle (never been accused of being lightfooted) and notice this 06 white Malibu coming up in the right lane and passing me. No big deal, lots of speeders down here. Looking north, here comes another cruiser heading south with lights and siren and then I notice the Malibu visibly slowing and using me as a block (figured this out later) AND the passenger ducking down! So this piques my interest and now I am watching them. They speed back up and the guy pops back up. Here comes ANOTHER southbound cruiser hot to trot and the Malibu and passenger slow and duck again! Now there is no question in my mind that this car and the running guy are somehow connected.

So I decide to note the plate, car make/model, and a description of the two as I turn away to my house and they continue on. I get home about 2 minutes later and think about it for 30 seconds and then call the local police. Tell them the whole thing, they thank me, and I hang up.

OK, you ready for this? About an hour later, I get a call from the police. They got the two in the car (and the running man) and they thanked me! I was the only call on the car. Anyway, these idiots tried to rob a mom/pop store in that mini-mall. I wondered about the officer that jumped the median but I figure he just happened to be really close?

So, do I rock or what!!??

That is so completely cool! Chalk one up for the good guys! A little over a month ago, a mom and pop store was robbed only one block from where I live. Three guys came in a blew the owner away without even thinking twice about it. They got away and no one has been charged with his murder yet. It is a real shame. The store is being run by his brother now because his wife can't even go in the building anymore.

Phil,
Tell me again why we live in South Florida. When the weather cools off we should schedule another ride and end up at the property in Okeechobee with a bon fire, burgers and beer. I have plenty of fire wood waiting for cooler weather. Red, where on the Treasure Coast do you live. I'm in Palm City.

I will call the law in a heartbeat if I'm in my cage where I can, yep, talk on my cellphone. If I see a drunk driver, or somebody driving dangerously, or a beater that is obviously unsafe and can't possibly pass a state safety inspection (or have insurance), I call. Can be frustrating when you dial 911 and they keep passing you around to different agencies because they can't figure out who's jurisdiction it is...don't get me started.

Way to go, Phil!

Yeah, good on you. World is full of people who say it's not their business and turn their backs. World is full of people who are happy to buy some cheap stereo from a guy in the pub/parking lot but get all bent out of shape if their house gets burgled.

I live in Palm Bay just about five minutes off route 1 in N.E. I'm looking forward to getting together with some other Triumph riders for a run! My only problem is strange work schedules so I usually have to schedule time off in advance.

Thanks all. Stay observant is my watch phrase. It's kept me out of trouble many times. This was the first time I've ever been able to help and I was darned glad to do it!
