This new ad starts out with "we believe in going our own way, no matter which way the rest of the world is going". It moves from one individual rider to nothing but Harleys on the highways, apparently, all going their own way. I guess they figure that if everyone in the world has a Harley, their stores will keep rolling in the dough from selling add-on parts so everyone can look different. Reminds me of Apple's first Macintosh commercial with the marching people (lemmings). Why didn't they just come out and say, "be like all the other riders - buy a Harley".

I just checked out that link, the video didn't work, but the
audio did. That was all I needed, what a joke. Gas station
hot dogs? Skulls and flames?

It sounded like a subliminal ad for a mind control cult!
"Go your on way"? Didn't Triumph TM that? (Fleetwood/Mac song title)

I never cease to be amazed!

Sincerity is the most...

The problem I had some of the Triumph print ads showed people walking away from their parked bike with a scowl on their face. It looked to me like their bike broke and they were going for help.

Bob,
That didn't work either. That's OK, I get the "picture".
Red,
I'm guessing you mean "imitation is the most sincere form
of flattery".

If HD is using Go Your Own Way, I'll laugh my @ss off. Go Your Own Way is all over the Triumph site!

I really dig it too...who cares what bikes they're riding...they pretty much summed up what riding means to me

Interesting Ad, I kinda like it but it's really not what Harley is about. Harley is more "come along with us" than "go your own way". I wonder if Triumph will take exception. Harley would if the tables were turned.

Being someone that does video for a living, I love it! I could care less about the HD part, but the concept and the script are superbly done. An excellent production that gets the point across. Which is the whole purpose to advertising.

Mass-marketed non-conformity, albeit very well made. Still just selling a fantasy that most are incapable of living up to. As I've said before, brilliant marketing, but marketing nonetheless.

"We believe in sticking it to the man down here." Heck, how many Harley owners ARE The Man, or kiss The Man's arse to pay for their Harley? Reminds me of that commercial where the old corporate boss says he's sticking it to the man, and his confused employee says something like, "But you are the man. So you're sticking it to yourself?" The boss says, "Maybe."

To me it's not even about buying a Harley. I would view it exactly the same whether it were a Harley, Triumph, Honda, Yamaha, or just an AMA commercial. It says to me that if you ride ANYTHING on 2 wheels, then you ARE going your own way. You see the world differently, whether it's 10,000 miles a year or even 1,000 miles a year. And those riding 1,000 miles a year are no less than anyone ridng 10,000 a year because know something that the cagers don't.

My sentiment exactly. The ad should start with "come along with us". I figure that Triumph wasn't able to copyright or TM "Go your own way" in the US. It's also probably why they aren't selling the T-shirs with that logo here either.

Of course it's about buying a Harley. That's what the ad is for. Sure you can relate to the sentiment, but they didn't make it to sell Triumphs or Yamakasukis. They made it to convince the weak-minded that they could "buy cool" from their local Harley dealer.

makes me want to puke...what a crock of sh1t! Rip off the slogan from Triumph, then brainwash people into thinking that you gotta be on a Harley to be free...gag. I've never felt more free and unique and right out proud of my machine since I got back on a Triumph! oh yeah, go your own way, but with 1000's (and more) of others on essentially the same bike? uh huh...

See Shari your words are sorta like pig German, stringing words together into one, Colbert does hybrid words, not so much strings of words. I've flown to europe via germany a couple times and my friends and I always joke about stuff like "where'd der ATMngettinmoney" or "der barndrinkinbeer". That kinda thing. Try it sometime, it's fun.

I saw another HD ad with some idiot blabering about, "The road is radical for this bike". WTF does that mean?

It was probably a typo in the script. I suspect a 'too' was supposed to be in front of radical. Was it a trailer ad?

It's worse than you might think, the new HD ad has most of the "true" Harley riders shaking their heads!!! It's like HD actually believe's the "nonsense" they're pushing on the public. I ride a HD, but this is just stupid!
I love my scoot, but the newer generation of garage-kept, trailer transported, only ride in "fair weather" bike owners doesn't sit too well with me! Although HD owners are the worst, they're not the only ones.

"We believe the machine you sit on says something about who you are." What's that say about Triumph owners then? That the one or two Trump owners that would actually be in a rally that size are the real individuals amongst a crowd of wanna-be's, hangers on, and joiners.

I already AM going my own way, thanks all the same.
