I read the post of the airbox mod and am awaiting the delivery of the Uni Filter to do the job. Where does one get the foam that you put in between the pieces of screen for the bottom of the box?
Thank you.

I called Uni filter and they sell 1" foam plugs for this type of application. They also sell bulk foam in sheets. Coars and fine. I have not looked into the air box yet but was wondering if the hole we drill is bigger than 1".
If I need to purchase the bulk foam, which one should I order and does anyone need any for themselves...I'm happy to share.

You can drill any size hole you want, but there is potential for larget than 1" there.

When I recieved my Uni it was packed with a lot of extra pieces of foam around it. I just used some of this for my "gasket". Maybe you'll get some extra in yours.

I have a few hundred fabric pads that absorb petroleum products only, but will NOT let any water pass through. If anyone wants a chunk, send me a mailing address.

When I drilled mine, I drilled two 1" holes and removed material between them. The bottom is open except for about 3/8" around the bottom.

I just went to the local hardware store and bought a $2 lawnmower air filter and cut it to the size I needed, sprayed it with oil. Just a small side note... (this never gets mentioned and I can't understand why not) Water can and will still pass under the filter (it puddles in the bottom of the box). K&N makes a filter sealing grease. Put a bead around the bottom of the filter to seal it to the bottom of the box. How do I know this?

I would imagine the magical liquid ductape called RTV will do the trick?

and save a couple cents too. It's not hard to clean off is it? I wouldn't think so.

Reid, I don't think the water thing gets mentioned because most of us have never had the problem. I drilled mine out to 1 3/4" with a hole saw (so I could put a button plug in there if I didn't like the results) and its been a lot of miles and a lot of rain and I haven't had any water get in there yet. I'm not doubting you, but I think your prior post about this was the first I can remember seeing.
If I did have water getting in there, I think I would try gluing a piece of plastic pipe in the hole as a "standpipe" and fasten the foam/screen/whatever to the top of it.

The tell tale tracks left behind in my airbox would seem to indicate that the only water that ever came in was through the weep hole. If I remember, I'll rig a little flap over the outside of weep hole to keep road spray out.

You might want to split the fabric by pulling it apart, and place the loose materials on the outboard side. It's almost like a two ply material.
