Did I dream this or did someone recently mention a Rocket III recall? Sorry if it's already been mentioned but if not ... there's a recall on the Rocket III ... There is a faulty oil seal which could sieze the engine, causing the rear wheel to lock. Now, I'm no engineer, mechanic or vee-hickle expert but that doesn't sound good to me .... If you have one of the first 1000 machines and haven't already received a letter from Triumph, they suggest you take it back. ASAP. Like now. Are you still sitting there? You'd be forgiven for making a bike trailer part of that journey back to the dealer ... Could you imagine riding along and the drive locks up .. those two long skid marks? Yes I know it only has one rear wheel - check your shorts !!

That's the fella ... ! I read it in the current edition of 'BIKE' (a Brit mag you get out there). The shaft drive locks up ... nice If you can get the mag, there is a VERY positive revue of the new ST.

Hiya Stewe I looked through the mag but couldn't find a web address. Send me your FULL postal address though the personal mail thingy and I'll post the mag to you when I've finished with it in a few days.

Hiya Ray Not to worry, at least Steve can read the other juicy bits. I'm sending him next months too so he can see the head to head with the Ducati, Fazer and Honda. I take from that that you managed to get a copy. As I say, sorry to the Mrs .. that Hein Gericke catalogue is a bit good read on a wet March evening (drool, dribble)

adey -
i've been following the recall over at Ratnet. it's real but whats surprising is that of all the guys who've already had it done (lots) not a one of them had an issue prior to getting the letter.
stopped at dealer the other day & they already had done the 2 new ones on the floor. Triumph is doing right by this. no quick fix - changing out entire rear end.

Jeff,
Given that the Rocket is Triumph's flagship bike, I would think that they have no choice but to react appropriately, otherwise their reputation (and somewhat succesful recent history) would be immediately destroyed or severely damaged at the very least.
