1. Ride it like you stole it.

2. The very first mod you should do is remove the AI, hands down. There's info in the tech vault.

Welcome!!
Congrats on getting the other best cruiser on the planet!!

Get a full face helmet to keep all the bugs out of your teeth since you will have the biggest grin you have ever had.

Remove the AI as soon as possible.

Other mods will be whatever you see fit to do. It's your bike, make it yours.

Start planning your trip home after picking up the bike now! Once you ride out of the dealers shop, you are gong to want to take the longest possible way home, even if it means passing your house a few times.

Welcome to the site oneijack! As some of the others have said, remove the ai first (after that 500 mile ride home). Do your own oil changes and adjustments (all of the aforementioned right after that 500 mile ride home, ‘don’t forget to get the oil filter/oil to carry home’, along with ai removal) then every 6000 miles repeat. We have some vendors here that can supply you with the ai removal kit, and might as well order that oil change kit and be ready when you really do hit the 500 mile mark. Keep your receipts and log the date/mileage in your book or some other means of tracking.
I am sure once you start with the add-ons, Brent, Boogieman, eddy1016/fast eddy, texastriumph and the rest of our local aftermarket suppliers, located in the Vendors Only area, will be more than willing to help you out with some goodies.

Welcome, glad to have another New Englander on the site. I would suggest you take it easy and get used to the bike and the riding position. As far as mods, the only thing I suggest you do right off is remove the Air Injection. You can go to Newbonneville.com and buy the kit. Very easy and will keep your headers from turning blue.

As stated before, drive it like you stole it. You can't hurt it but it will give you a pain the face from all the grinning you will be doing.

congrats on the new ride.

Welcome! You will have miles and miles of great fun. Just be sure and watch out for all the idiots on the road. Furthering what everyone else has said... you have got to get the Air Injection removed as soon as possible.

Remember to close the petcock when not riding, and never twist throttle before starting the bike. (Read up on airbox explosion in the forums.) Other than that (and AI removal) have fun riding and enjoying your new baby! Soon enough, you'll find yourself looking for all the bits that make the bike unique to you. Enjoy!

Do not visit this site! Run while you still have spare time and money! When I first got my '05 about 14 months ago, I was the happiest idiot on the planet. After visiting this site almost every day, I have removed baffles from pipes, re-jetted carbs 3 different ways, changed needles, handlebars, mirrors twice, headlight... I'm sure there's more. I've added about a dozen accessories that I didn't know existed before. I have a list of about 8 or 10 other accessories or mods I want to do. When UPS brings me something, my wife says "how much did that cost?".
If you choose to ignore my advice, welcome aboard. There is a wealth of information here and a great bunch of folks.

From one 06 America owner to another congratulations on a great purchase. I bought mine 2 months ago and 2,000 kilometres later I'm still smiling. The only mod that I made was to put the luggage rack on the back. I'm going to ride for some time, listen to what others have to say then slowly make further mods. Enjoy riding the best of the best.

Other than the AI removal, this is probably the best advice I've heard.

No matter what anyone tells you otherwise, use the KEY to turn the engine off, or you will oneday learn the hard way how to jump start your bike when you walk away and leave the damn things hanging in the 'on' position. I say this from bitter experience.

Benny,
It would be helpfull if there was an alternate user list
sorted by state.

oneijack,
Here's a quick, off the top of my head, list of other members
from CT that I've met, or ridden with:

Big Poppy(John)
bradleyd(Brad)
ctmike(Mike)
CTSPEED(Mark)
his400(Jim)
LJ3000(Martin)
Matt(Matt)
mert(Shari)
vintage6t(Dave)
unclecharlie(me)

Anyone I've forgotten, or haven't ridden with, or met,
please chime in.

Uncle Charlie

P.S.
I met a guy at BritJam with a red BA, from the New Haven area,
who said he doesn't post much. I can't remember his name
(I met alot of people that day).

Hopefully it will stop raining by next week. I took extra vacation days 8/28 to 8/30 to ensure several days out on the open road away from my wife and the honey do list. But the weather did not cooperate. Like was said b4 just ride, you may want to wait till next spring b4 addressing personalizing your TBA.

onei,
From what I saw on this site, Canton has lost the dealership
to Gengras HD, in the Hartford area(much to my disbelief).
What's your take on this?

Montana, Minnesota, Missouri, Y'all might as well be in Canada.

All they got in Canada is whores, and hockey players.
Hey, my wife's Canadian!
Oh yeah,
What team's she play for?

Just kidding around.
Hope no offense was taken by our friends north of the

I have explored much of this info and posted info elsewhere but to recap: BMW told Canton Cycles (CC) BMW line must have own larger and private floor space. So CC put out bid Gengras "a deal we could not refuse" Gengras has to take the Triumph line also as part of deal. Letter of intent has been signed by Gengras, now State of CT, agencies to include DMV and others must approve as well as Triumph North America. CC will continue to do general maintenance for Triumph, warranty work will be identified in final sales contract. CC is just too small, friendly and customer oriented to compete with the "BOX" concept of Triumph and BMW corporate. So if I need warranty work choice Libbyes New Haven, Gengras East Hartford or some dealer in Ridgefield (near Danbury) any way from a 10 minute drive to dealer to 45 to 60 min with people I don’t know or trust at this time and the famous get speedier service question "did you buy it (TBA) here? NO” SOL.

wow this is news to me, I liked the folks at Canton, but having parts and service available in East Hartford would make my life easier.......right now all i can think about is getting the bike. Are they (Canton) going to continue with
just the Victory Line?
