Can someone please tell this old man the easiest way I can remove the inline fuel filter to check it?

Pull the hose off of the carb where it connects coming down from the gas tank. Use a small set of needle nose and pull the little filter out of the little T. Spray it down with some carbs cleaner and reinsert it, paying attention to the orientation as it only goes back in one way. It has a slight V shape to it as does the T connection hole.
It is really tight in there and is easier to get to if you can just pull the carbs first. With a Freak it's really easy to yank the carbs off. No need to disconnect cables, just the fuel line and the TPS.

A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice. Pat

Some like myself removed it and left it out. It's been said by a nuber of perople that the filter in the tank is all you need. I tend to agree after removing my inline filter and the petcock. The screens are the same in how fine they are, and the inline was 100% clean while the tank filter had a ton of garbage to be cleaned. It's a real pain to pull and then reinstall the inline, so if you want you can remove it entirly. And if it bothers you no having one you can always add one up further where it's easy to get too.

I removed mine and put an inline filter with glass housing in where I can actually see it above the carbs.
