This morning at o'dark-thirty when I got up to go to work, I pulled my helmet on, packed my rainsuit back in the bags and got on the bike to start it up. Turned the petcock, pulled the choke, turned the key on, hit the starter...Nothing happened. In my pre-awake state, I checked what appeared to be the obvious causes, everything but the one cause that never occurred to me. I actually ended up getting into my cage and driving to work instead of riding my bike. I was so stupid!! I never thought to check the kill switch, which my 8 year old son had pushed when he was doing what eight year olds do, touching things they are told never to touch! I have never used the switch and it never became a reality to me. Now I know better. The "bright" side is, it rained pretty hard all afternoon, and I was dry and comfortable in my cage. I also realized within just a couple of minutes why I love to ride my bike so much. Nothing comes close to the feelings generated by accelleration on two wheels, close to the ground, in the wind, sun, rain, whatever. It feeds a part of me that nothing else comes close to, and that's why I'll check my kill switch first the next time my bike won't turn over!
