Once again i'm looking at the possibility of replacing the black controls with chrome ones, probably HD since thats mostly whats available. Seems the starter switch, kill switch, and hi beam switches should all be workable with the HD switches. But what i wanna know is how you dealt with the triumph turn signal switching. Ours isn't the same as HD turn switches AFAIK, and i'm not sure it'll work on our bikes till i've already bought them. (many on ebay, and they won't accept refunds) Ours catch in place then are released with the button. So tell me how you did it please. Is it that the HD type simply stays in place when you push it to one side and you turn the signal off by pushing the switch itself back to center?

Oh, and also what do i have to look out for as far as the throttle? How do i know our throttle assembly will work with whatever i buy, or do you buy a new one that fits the new controls?

I know, but not with these because 1/2 is metal and the other 1/2 is plastic.

I did not know that!! I suppose if they were all metal we would pay more? Freakin' accountants probably figured they could save .0025 cents per bike!! PLASTIC!!! SHEEZ!! Home builders demize!!!

No kidding. Thats how they get the cost down. The dash on the tank is also chrome, so you add all these things up and i guess it keeps the overall cost down enough to justify. I suppose i could see about having the plastc half chromed, but i'm not sure many chromers do that, plus it's kinda cheesy. Rather have real metal.

I don't know about using Harley controls, but I'm pretty certain you can use Honda controls and clean them up. I've done that in the past on other bikes, it wasn't a problem.

A guy in VA has "Joker" chrome controls. Can't remember his name, but he has the movie monster painted on the tank and a nitrous install. His pix are somewhere in the Photo Gallery.

Those joker machine controls are VERY nice. However, theres a reason they are.......$449 just for the brake res and lever !I'd estimate a grand for the whole setup. They're astronomically expensive.

Dazco you can use a number of switches( Kuryaiken for one, and J&P catalogue also sells some nice ones). If your not familiar with the different brands and their electrics, take the switch to your favorite mechanic and he should be able to wire it to make it work on your bike. I purchased a kuryaiken switch set for the Speed master I'm working on........Angelis

I can do any wiring. Thats not the problem. It's just that our turn switches are different in the mechanical aspect and i'm not sure they'll work till i see them which makes ordering online risky. And locally it's hard to find anything, especially reasonably.

Most HD switches are momentary switches, activate a timer that automatically turns the power off to the flasher, which turns off the turn signal,, you can buy this part thru most after market parts suppliers

You can't find anything local in L.A.? Here in Ft. Liquordale there's a ton of bike shops...

thats the problem. Ours aren't momentary and they have a button return. so any other switch is likely to be either momentary or a spring return that triggers a SS switch and is turned off via mercury switch or some other thing. It could be hard to fabricate some sort of mounting to accept ours or find a switch that would work. point is, there are an unlimited amount of things that could make it hard to impossible, and buying online gives you no opportunity to examine them and see what might work. It's one of those things you have to examine to know.
Phil....not really. i've looked. The HD dealer may have some but if they do they're behind the counter in the parts area in back. I might ask them if i get down there soon.
