Wow, what a difference from just snorkles and pipes (and possibly jets). Average max torques of 53.3 vs 41.84... that's over a 25% increase in max torque, not to mention MUCH better curves! If the makers of aftermarket pipes needed endorsement, this would be it.

Ordered the Sceptres for the SM today.
Then I'll switch the Epcos to the BA.
Then off to the Dyno again.

Yeah, sure... but what these dyno run charts fail to show us is what the impact will be on gas milage. A 25% increase which is accompanied by a 20% increase in fuel usage is not my idea of a good performance.

Nice stats? Sure. But where is the missing piece? What's it gonna cost us?

Now then... if that 25% increase was realized along with a, say, 10% increase in miles-per-gallon, now THAT is a performance increase that is truly worthwhile.

My 2¢ worth.

Be well & happy.

Haven't done a "real" mileage test yet but,
had 127 miles on trip meter. Stopped for fuel and
it took 2.6 gallons to top tank to point that
when I placed the SM on side stand it "peed"
abit of fuel out.
Before I swap pipes we'll top the tanks, run to
reserve and get a closer idea.

More power is always gonna equate to more fuel consumption - you don't get something for nothing. What mods like this do is allow you to access more power, but if you choose to ride the way you did before the mods your fuel consumption shouldn't be significantly different.

This used to be my bike. Mods are K&N filter with snorkel removed, AI removed, EPCO SS slip-ons. Replaced 16 tooth front sprocket with an 18.

OEM pilot jet and 130 main jets.

This bike got a solid 55 mpg in this configuration running two lane roads. Don't know about interstate riding 'cause I rarely did that.

Thanks for posting the dyno results - they managed to squeeze another 0.9 hp and 1.0 ft lb of torque out of it? Was it that close or did you tune it some more after you bought it? Just wondering how close I got without a dyno.

I get pretty bad milage on my little jaunts after work, but I still CAN get good milage if I'm just cruising.

Oh Ya, Shane at Happy Trailz is a good friend and Dynos for $20!
His setup is mobile so perhaps we can talk him into visiting
one of the rallies someday.
Located in Findley Ohio.
