On Friday of this week I collect my Bonny America from the showroom. I have done the usual gone for some after market products sissy bar, luggage rack, long slash pipes, tacho and the all important alarm. What I am really looking for is a good dealer of stainless steel parts. Living in Scotland the weather can be pretty rough on chrome so can any body help. I dont mind if its in timbuctoo as long as they are reliable and sell good gear.
Also can any body advise me of any issues that I may encounter with the bike that I should be aware of or any advice that any body could provide that would help me with my new bike. I hate the thought of anything sneeking up on me and spoiling my fun.

Eric
Welcome to the site, nice to see another from this side of the pond! Oh yeah, put some more info in your bio so we can all see whereabouts in Scotland you are. I know that Spud (from Glasgow) is trying to organise a get together north of the border sometime in the next 6 weeks.
Get them to take out the AI (air injection) asap, it will help stop the headers turning blue.
As for accessories, if you look in the vendors section, you will find all sorts of people only too willing to part you from your hard-earned!
Enjoy your new ride
Shaun

Welcome from the colonies!
You'll find everything you need to know about your bike right here. If you have any questions, just ask. I wish I'd found this site before I got my bike, not more than 2 years later. I've been doing alot of catching up.
Again, Welcome! Uncle Charlie

Beware the exploding air box !!!!
ALWAYS switch the gas tap off after a ride and DON'T twist the throttle when starting.
See lots of posts about it - GinaS now going through he** to get hers fixed.
Oh - welcome to the site
If you do it today you MIGHT regret it. If you CAN'T do it tomorrow you WILL regret it.

Welcome Eric! As Nobby said, get rid of the Air Injection (AI) system right away. Look outboard of your spark plugs. That's where the air is injected into the cylinders. There's about 30 bazillion posts on this and you can find a good article on it here: http://www.bonnevilleamerica.com/downloads.htmlAn excellent source of aftermarket parts is NewSpeedmaster.com. They have a very nice AI removal kit with the Union Jack milled into the bolts! http://www.newspeedmaster.com/html/ai_removal_kit.html

Ok. I looked but suck at finding stuff in the search thingy... keep getting "no match" messages.... Got any links for the airbox problem? I usually forget to turn off the gas on the Speedy....but after reading about exploding airboxes I certainally will remember... Oh yeah... Did the AIS removal, waiting for the Freak(sp <BG>) to arrive... Thanks Mary

Hi Eric.....Welcome to the forum. You'll love the bonny. I just can't put mine down, the sound of them, the smell of them and the (I'M NOT IN A HURRY ANYWAY ATTITUDE) of them. The views you never saw before cos you were GOING TO FAST. And ofcoarse the hundreds of TRUMPIT GROUPEE'S.

The problem is that rather than pretty young girls they're all middle aged men. Our bikes are not chick magnets, they're Geezer Magnets
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Mine's a chick magnet ! (must be the colour - Slver/Graphite) unfortunately it's the bike they want to throw their leg, over not me !!

Tragically I have to agree with ladisney with regard to the "geezer magnet" comment. But there's still a slight frisson to be had by knowing that nine times out of ten you're not going to get to park up without having someone stop you for an admiring chat.

Never leave fuel petcock open when not riding. Never crank throttle before choking and starting. Stay on top of cosmetic care, rust is insidious! Above all have fun riding!
