Any suggestions? I lost mine last year when I dropped Mrs. Robinson last season. Need to replace with good riding glasses. Prefer types that work well on a bike and can just be shades when you want, riding glasses when you need. I found some called Optic Nerve Banshee's on the web. I like the interchangeable lens concept. Any opinions?

Check out the Panoptx line of shades. They aren't cheap, but they work real well. Panoptx Home Page

Oakley Half Jackets are my glasses of choice. Not cheap either, but also have interchangeable lenses. About $100 for the glasses and $30-35 for different sets of lenses.

I've got the Oakley's as well. Love them especially since one of the lenses can be worn during the day and night.

I have several pair of shades - Ray-Ban, Bolle, Revo, Serengetti, etc. They all work pretty well as far as dealing with the sun but some fit inside my helmet better than others. If you are going to wear them with a helmet make sure you try them on with your helmet on.

That is a must. I ended up with some Maui Jim shades with my Rx, as everything else the ear piece is too big to easily slide into my helmet. Also, if you have a face shield, polorizing your glasses may not work - gave me funky shadows and rainbows in my shield and windscreen. Had to have the glasses remade (which they did for free thank goodness!) Becky

I loose mine so often, Becky, I usually just get Sport sun glasses at Dollar General, just $5 for name brand glasses, like Foster Grant. But I agree to try them on with your helmet.

Best I've found for riding is Veratti safety glasses from Encon Safety supply. Your local welding supply store should have them. They are sporty wrap around solid lenses with adjustable temple lengths - 100%UV protection. Even at high speeds, very little wind gets to your eyes. They will stay with you if you have to look over your shoulder. They are around $10, so I got the dark and some clear ones for night riding. Of course my bride has some too. My opthomologist lit my bu++ up about wearing R*yB*ns about 5 years ago, due to the glass lenses and showed me some pictures of a biker's left eyeball after taking a rock through his glass lens at 80mph - not pretty.
Just wear something for eye protection!
Take Care,

just like you I wear safety glasses for riding in the daytime. I use Nomads, found at almost any welding?safety store. They are sleek and wrap around my head great. And for about $10 if I loose them or they get broke no big lose. I am however trying to find some nice (small) goggles that I can add rx to for night riding.

Hi Again, I just ordered some on eBay that are safety glasses. They have the "ambervision/blublocker" type lens which is one piece with black plastic temples. I'll zap you a PM or post here if they are worth the 2 for $15 price tag. I think I'll like them because you can wear them at all times of day or night. Dennis

Yeah, I too have purchased some tinted and clear safety glasses in the past from Cole Parmer. They usually work great. Was just thinking about something with polarization. As for wind and not blowing off I have found the safety glasses to work superbly.

I just bought a pair of Oakley Half-Jackets with the amber polarized lenses. Been wearing polarized lenses for years, so I'm used to the weird colors and shadows. Non polarized lenses just seem like my eyes are "naked". I first came home with a pair of Crystal Black Fives, but they had poor perepheral/vertical limits - I could not see well behind me for lane changes. Had to exchange for something with an open edge around the side and bottom of the lens. I have an old pair of M-Sweeps that I use for safety glasses around the house. They are a little too wide for under helmet use, though.

I'll throw in my pitch for the Smith "Sliders" series. I've taken stones, bugs, and all sorts of good stuff on 'em, and they've held up admirably -- that, and they're a damnsight cheaper than Oakleys.
Also, they have interchangable lenses like the Oakleys, htey come in a number of colors and lenses (including polarized) and they aren't quite as ugly (IMHO) as the Oakleys. They fit will under a full-face helmet, they're durable... good call all around. That, and if you snoop around on e-bay you can get 'em really cheap. There's a guy in Canada who runs a bike shop that'll usually give you a good deal.
