i have been meaning to ask this question for three years.

When i bought my bike (august '03) i also purchased the touring seat and the tall sissy bar and luggage rack. From the first time my girlfriend sat on the back she complaned that the sissy bar felt too far back. She feels that you had to lean back to get any support. has anyone else had this experience? or is my sissy bar slighlty bent perhaps?

Most of my pillions tend to hang onto me rather than lean back till they get used to it - I think it's the whole "cruiser" thing, thing rider's leaning back so the pillion's supposed to as well.

That's not so bad, as long as it's the right person back there

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

I'm not sure you're actually supposed to lean on the sissy bar. It's more like a stop-gap to keep from falling off the bike. If nothing else it's a great support point for luggage.
Since putting the touring seat and sissy bar & rack on the bike the wife loves riding with me.
The sheepskin butt pads were the icing on the cake.

Hehe, I've actually had the sissy bar off for ages and only recently put it back on, coz I was asked to take a friend of a friend on a long-ish ride, and I didn't want her hanging onto me all day. If she wasn't my mother's age I wouldn't have minded.

The sissy bar is definitely made for leaning on.

i had my sissy bar fitted when i got the bike as my youngun likes to ride out with me sometimes. not so much for her to rest on, more to stop her falling off when i set off from lights etc!!, mind you it didnt stop her from falling asleep on the back on the way home from the beach last week!!had to stop n wake her up,i was worried that she would fall off!,then she informed me that she fall asleep on a regular basis!!!!

ALAN bikes n beer..is there more to life?

You may want to lash her to the sissy bar with some bungies....
