I can not get my bike dynoed until the busiest time in the dealers is over so I would like to hear your opinions about my setup, hoping the motor is not running too lean or rich. My setup in my Speedmaster 800:
- Specialty Spares Stainless long slashcuts - Mains 130, no shims - Pilots stock, airscrews 3.0 turns open - AI removed - Airfilter and airbox stock (Unifilter waiting to be installed, wondering do I need it)
Opinions about that setup will be received with gratitude.

Sounds decent...You may want to try larger mains and see how it runs? I have the Thunderbike pipes and found the 130 main jets a little lean. I have 135's in and it's great right now. May need 138's once the weather (hopefully) warms up and we get that wonderful 90% humidity around here. Nice brown color on the plugs. My screws are out 3.25 turns, but the variance on these bikes, even though the same motors, seems to differ greatly. Oh yeah, I have my snorkel removed too and just ordered TBS needles from my dealer. Hoping they are here Friday. I have a Unifilter too...sitting in my toolbox still in it's wrapper. Haven't tried it yet but my feelings are it's not going to do anything noticeable performance wise. The only advantage it may have is the ability to be cleaned and reused, but depending on what a pain it is to clean, just buying a new paper element may be the way to go? Can anyone out there offer their opinion on how easy or messy they are to maintain?

I did see a thread on the uni filter subject round here somewhere, not quite sure where though.
After reading that thread though i was inclined to stay with the stock filter. But that is just my opinion.
If ya can find the thread it's well worth the read.

Sounds about right. Check out The Old Jet Survey for some setups a lot of us had and the results. A little outdated, but still a good reference for starting points.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

Thanks folks. It seems I have it quite right so I can safely ride until I get the bike to the dyno. Dinqua, I have to admit that I used your jetting guide when I made these changes;-).
Thanks again and safe ride.

If it runs OK, go ahead and ride it. Put on a few miles and take a look at the sparkplugs, they will tell you if the mixture is right. These bikes are setup to run rather lean from the factory to make the politicians happy so, they will start running badly if you go even a little leaner than stock.

One question more: I think that opening the airscrews will make idle and lower rpm`s mixture richer and closing makes leaner. Am I right?

Do a hard throttle roll-on in second gear and let off, if you get popping on decel, then your air screw setting is incorrect.
