Beware of Dumb Drivers

The tiny state of Rhode Island still ranks rock bottom in terms of driving knowledge, according to a national test conducted by GMAC Insurance. Oregon drivers answered the most questions correctly.

The 20-question test was based on questions asked in state driver's license examinations, and revealed that about one in 11 licensed drivers in the United States would fail a state drivers test.

Based on average scores, northwestern states generally ranked highest while the bottom-ranking states were mostly in the northeast. One exception was Vermont, which ranked third. Washington state drivers ranked second. Drivers in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and the District of Columbia ranked near the bottom, with D.C. finishing just ahead of Rhode Island.

The test and an accompanying survey were completed by 5,288 licensed drivers including at least 100 from each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia. The survey asked about responses to specific driving situations.

Approximately one in three drivers said they usually do not stop for pedestrians in crosswalks, and at least one out of five drivers did not know that pedestrians in a crosswalk have the right of way. At least one in five also did not know that roads are most slippery when it first starts to rain after a dry spell.

Not really sure how he walked away. Adreniline I guess. He sure was pissed though.

Some days I think their stats would show only 1 in 11 drivers could/should pass the test. Too many people riding behind the wheel instead of driving the vehicle. In many areas to save money they eliminated mandatory Drivers Education. It's heart warming to know that mediocracy in new drivers training, more elderly drivers than ever on the road and apathy of so many others only resulted in the 1/11 failure rate they reported. Thanks for the link. The raw number this data represents are very sobering especially when you add the barely passed scores.

Instead of wandering around yelling, this guy should have done 2 things:
1) Got down on his knees and thanked the good Lord he wasn't killed, muchless hurt.
2) Asked the driver that hit him for a ride to the nearest store to buy a lottery ticket. This was his lucky day!

Un-believable that he just walks away check it out , shorts, sneakers no jacket and no helment the motorcycle GOD"S were smiling on him.

I live in N.Y., way upstate, 30 miles from Canada, and I bet half the people here don't have a clue as far as correct driving procedures. I live on the edge of Fort Drum[ home of the 10th Mtn. division] and they are heavily deployed most of the time, this leaves young women from all over the country driving around here, not knowing where they are going, talking on cell phones, etc. My daughter will be driving next year and its easy to show her by example what not to do, on a daily basis. The driver training required is definitely lacking, cuz most people are just clueless.

I don't know what kind of traffic signals/signs were in play in that clip, but sure looks like he was taking a bad angle to the left turn (too far to the left?), and how did he NOT SEE HER?

The fact that he landed on his feet in the first place was amazing, but no injuries?! How lucky is that guy? The bike is totally destroyed.

Anybody know what language he's speaking, I'd love to get a translation of the rant because he looked like he was coming into traffic from the wrong side of the lane...

I agree that instead of b*tching at the woman he should be praying BIG TIME, whether he believes or NOT!
