You can thank Mr. Bush and how the rest of the world feels about America, as to why the line (name) is being dropped. Its tragic. Triumph wants to continue their global market, and anything “America” is poison in to many people and countries.

That has got to be the funniest 'blame Bush' item for the week!

You have quite an imagination there, Jonathan.

Hey Jonathan, you can thank Mr. Bush for you having the money in your pocket to buy a Triumph, the freedom to ride it, and the life you have by having the stones to take on the Muslims who are waging war on civilized nations across the world.

Do us a favor and save that BS for the NYT, CNN, or some other liberal blog and leave this site for talk about motorcycles.

(COUGH) BS. The usual BS from a former soviet socialist republic near Massachusetts.

I (We) would like to think that by naming an obviously cool motorcyle "America", would make it more desirable and therefore more "international". I think the name fits the bike, as there would be no such style if it weren't for good 'ole American engenuity creating choppers and other cruiser style bikes in the first place. The fact that the America alraedy sells well worldwide speaks for itself, as does the fact that H-D, and the Japanese Harley wannabees also have a viable world market.

It defines something.

Who cares if they change it now or not? It is, and always will be, what it is!

There are a lot of folk in the world that have a lot of repect, and indeed owe alot of freedom, to AMERICA. That won't be changed easily.

Yeah, Syria and Iran are such big motorcycle markets. Especially compared to the United States.

I'd like to thank George for hiring an oil company lobbyist as his environment chief, because all these petty fights between men can even compare to what the earth means.

Well Jonathon, as you may or may not know, I'm no fan of Mr. Bush (others here can attest to that fact). But about Americas unpopularity in other parts of the world: Well, there's always been those who don't like us. And never will. Kinda like the French.
Bush has plenty of real faults to pick on .

THAT'S IT GUYS! I can see it NOW!

The 2007 Triumph ELVIS!(formerly known as the "America")

I mean, come on people, ADMIT IT! WHAT'S more "Americana" than...ELVIS???!!! AND, You CAN'T hate ELVIS, can ya?!(Hell...I hear that even Osama does a mean "Hound Dog" and that "Roustabout" is his FAVORITE FLICK, for gawdsakes!!!)

But, I'll DRAW THE LINE at appeasing those darn FRENCHIES, BOY!!!!

I mean, it would TRULY be a DARK DAY INDEED if we would EVER see ANY BIKE named the...Triumph JERRY LEWIS!!!("LA-DY!!! LA-DY!!!")

(I hear that they've always loved him over there, for some reason!!!)

Cheers,
Dwight
(now if Mr.Bloor would only hire me, at least part-time, I could ALSO FIX that problematic look of the Rocket III for him TOO!!!....it's called, get rid of those small twin headlights, and instead have one large headlight situated in an updated and slightly larger '50s Triumph Thunderbird nacelle, which would draw the eye away from that ENORMOUS radiator, AND ALSO get rid of those asymetrical exhausts for one only on the right side)

Nahh - not Bushes fault - we hated you long before that. Bunch of terrorists rising up against the king

JOKE JOKE Jeeze...

The Truth is the rest of us have politicians too - we understand they have nothing to do with real people, They always change names, why did they drop Bonneville from Bonneville America? I will tell you why - its because some spotty faced bum fluffed graduate erk in marketing has run a survey in the local students union and decided its a good idea for the rest of us - thats why!

Do a some reading, "Cowboy Diplomacy" "rigid inflexible" "The Worst President in Our History" Oh this jobs Buls$^&, Yea right, Illegal aliens taking jobs away from Americans. Like in LA after Katrina, A temporary employment agency hired unemployed Louisiana’s for clean up. After a week or so the Americans were let go, the site manager "the Mexicans are here. Groton CT a CBS news crew interviews "Union Carpenters at the sub base building officers housing, only one problem almost all the workers were illegal aliens being paid Labors rate $13.00 not the $26.00 Union carpenters rate per hour, I'm sure there are many union carpenters that could have benefited from those paycheck. Oh I wonder who got the extra $13.00 per hour from the contract. Lets not even go into Halliburton fleecing the US tax payers for unfiltered water the troops were drinking, over charging for meals If you don’t think Mr. Chaney is pulling strings for his budding well. All is rosy in many Bush supporters minds. It's not just the French, many other moderate friendly governments are non too thrilled with the "cowboy diplomacy" Oh yea if one has a son or daughter planning to attend college sorry there has been a substantial cut back in loan funds. Oh yea if you happen to be paid minimum wage well READ and see what the republican congress has not done raised it. However in the 9 years since the last raise of the minimum wage congress has raised their pay $31.000.00. Bush is real good taking care of the ultra wealthy, but if your are poor you are out of luck.

Yes, thw whole world hates America,,,that is why all the advertisers you saw at the World Cup were primarily USA and they all chug down an ice cold Coke in between quarters....
Ah yes, the whole world hates us but they all want to come here because we are the greatest country on the face of the earth...I think dropping the America name goes with Triumphs philosophy of keeping the line "fresh" and new....hence adios to the Thunderbird, Trident, Sprint RS, Daytona, Trophy and new items such as... the new ST, Rocket, Scrambler, etc............

Its so shameful the BS anti-american rhetoric we get from representatives of the so called elitist left. Even to go so far as to blame an American president for a miniscule issue like dropping the name on a British made bike.

jeezAZ H. Kerist.

to task people are wearing blinders? That's almost as funny as the statement itself. Thanks for the laugh!

No, Dwight. I suppose I have one more confession to make, and perhaps the time is right. I am actually John Bloor. I use this site for marketing research. It has been helpful over the many years. To be perfectly honest with you - There is no Robert, either. Robert is a name made up by my aide, Mrs. Moneypenny. It is contrived from the names of my pet English Bull Dogs - 'Rocky' and 'Albert'. Some proof to verify -
1. Robert disappeared right before pipedr came along - I thought you all were getting on to me, hence the new log-on.
2. The shutting down of the original site - I did this to upgrade to our in-house surveilance system programming. I didn't suspect there would be so many bugs when we tried to go live. That's why it took so long.
3. The reappearance of Robert. How else could I have reactivated the site, distanced myself, and made the ficticious Robert seem more real. And, again - Robert disappears right after we went live.

None the less, I want to thank everyone for their loyalty and support, for the ideas and suggestions, and for spreading the popularity of these motor bikes. More importantly, I also ask you foregiveness for what surely seems like betrayal and misrepresentation. I had to rely on this group - a group seperated from Triumph LTD. wxcept for loyalty and love of the motor bike you ride. I could not rely on the RAT Net group because of the close inner relationship of the site and company, and, in case you hadn't noticed - There's a rather large grouping of half wits, idiots, and fools who post on that site. Again - Thank you all and sorry. You just can't trust anyone on the internet.

With all sincerity,
JB

Lets agree to disagree but lets also get together in 10 years and see how the legacy of this administration is viewed. And lets agree someone will eat a lot of crow. Believe me I hope I'm the one dining because the world will be a better, safer place. But if, well I think I made my point in past threads. Just hope for the best.

Its not hate it's FEAR, FEAR of how I will spend the remaining 25 to hopefully 40 years of my life. I dont wear blinders to what is happening around the world. Have in fact studied the history of how the European colonial powers have tried to CHANGE THE MIDDLE EAST as Mr Bush wants to, talk about good laugh. It's been 900 years and Christians and Muslims can’t agree on much of anything except their mutual mistrust.

Stay cool Jonathon, there is intelligent life here.

Just not among those who think criticism of the President is tantamount to treason .

That's right Jonathon, you'll only find it among those who think every action he takes is wrong, no matter what it is. That surrender to Islamofacists will bring lasting peace. That Israel is wrong to defend itself and that terrorists hiding behind women and children while shooting at Israelis are the equivalent of the American founding fathers. Yes Jonathon, that’s the only place you’ll find intelligence around here.
