Hey, y'all --

Buddy of mine wants to buy an old Triumph TR3 car in Fort Stockton, TX 79735. Unfortunately, he's here wtih me outside Washington, DC.

He's hoping to get someone to go and look at the car, check it ou in person -- make sure it actually exists and stuff -- before he wires them dollars.

He's willing to pay gas and beer money!!!

If you're in that area, or are willing to make a little trip to make some extra dollars (gas and beer money minimum) then drop me a line on here and I'll hook y'all up. If you have friends who might be up for the deed, that's cool too -- I just need a personal recommendation of someone who can go make sure the car exists, and isn't a rustbucket.

Gas AND beer money? Texas has to be at least a 2 case ride. .

Fort Stockton is a geographical oddity...at least 200 miles from nowhere. It's about 250 miles from El Paso, over 300 miles from San Antonio, and over 400 miles from Dallas. And there isn't much between Fort Stockton and all those cities, just miles and miles and miles of open road.

I hope you find a poor lost soul to help you out. Because if they're anywhere near Ft Stockton, they are truly lost(metaphysically speaking).

Yeah, I know --

He's willing to make it more than a 2 caser, if you know what i mean, but it's still quite a haul -- hell, it's Texas!

would love a ride but he is right, from where i live its 370 miles and just under 6 hours one way. In the heat we are having,,, thats gonna be a over nighter. however, its right down I20 and drops directly south off that.

I stopped for gas one time there on my way home from cali,,, all iremember is a statue of a big road runner. it truely is in the middle of no-mans land. I cant figure out why anyne lives there.

cant this guy e-mail some pics soyour firend can decide?

That part of Texas, not a chance. I bet it has never even been wet. Maybe sunburnt and sand whipped, but there will be no rust on it I would pretty much guarantee that part at least.

A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice. Pat

Sounds like bliss to me ....

The doubting Thomas in me wants to know that, if there is some kinds scam here (ie: no car!) is that exactly why they picked such a place .... who's gonna go just to look .... ?

Not for the first time, I'm probably wrong though .....

300 miles each way for me on the most boring stretch of road in the universe. On the slab this time of year about 120 degrees. I have to beg off that one would certainly be an over nighter.

I can almost promise that car has no rust if it lived there all its life. Rains there about once a century.

One of my techs is from Fort Stockton, so I know he knows people there. Still has family there as far as I know.

If I had a little more information, he might be able to make a phone call or two.
