Hey bros, anyone used the exhaust wrap on their pipes? I was thinking about doing it to my 12" shorties and headers on my America .I saw where you put the roll in water and feed it out while starting to wrap. They look cool in black.
everyone dies....not everyone rides!

I just wrapped em dry, making sure to keep tension on each wrap. Still solid 6 months later.

I'm not sure that wetting 'em down makes any difference. I will say, though, that I should've sprayed 'em down with the sealant -- mine are starting to deteriorate. I also wonder if getting a better quality wrap would've been a good idea.
S'ok -- learning process. I'll let you know how it goes when I re-wrap 'em next time.

Has anyone out there wrapped their headers on a Speedy. I'd like to do it, but it looks like I need to remove some heat shields. Do Americas have these same shields?

Yep, I wrapped the headers. Nothing to it. Which shields do you need to remove? The ones on the actual cans, or the header pipes?

One of the main reasons to wet it down is to keep the dust off of you. Some say it itches worse than fiberglass, and it is supposed to be easier to keep tight.

Jaeger The shields on the lower portion of the headers right by the brake lever and shifter. I suppose I could wrap just up to these shields, but I'd prefer to wrap down to where my TORs slip on. What do you think. If anyone has pics of there headers wrapped I'd love to see them. Thanks!

Hrm. I'm trying to remember, but as I recall I didn't have any shields on the headers at all... I have an '03 Speedy, if that helps. (sorry, don't mean to be daft here)
You do need to take the headers off to do the wrap -- does that answer your questino?
