gday, took the bike out on the weekend for a bit of a squirt, the girl is stock apart from a set of staintune slip ons, anyway had done around 180 k's when came across a nice long straight, and decided to open her up a little. Got the bike up to 170-180 k's/hr and she was reving pretty hard like it needed to change up a gear even though i was already in top, and the bike was just above red line.. Is this normal or does any1 else have this problem and what s a good idea to rectify it..

If it has a 16 or 17 tooth primary gear thats about all you will get. Not good with KPH but I think thats about 110 MPH. That would be all you will get. If you havn't done it, put an 18t primary sprocket on it.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

Yeah go the 18 tooth sprocket. There's even a 19 tooth one, but with the hills & twisties in tas you might be better sticking with the 18.
One of these days I'll get down that way again.. on two wheels this time. Nice part of the world.

I spent Christmas of '87 (I think it was '87) in Tazmania ehen I was in the Navy. It was awesome! I have always wanted to go back.
But, anyway definitley go to that 18 tooth sprocket. I love having it on my Speedy.

It was a happy day when I put an 18 tooth primary sprocket on my 05 America, a very happy day indeed. It was, curiously enough, the same day I installed the freak on her.
Incidentally, my bike used to lug a little bit when starting up a hill from a stop, especially if I didn't really roll on the throttle. However, even with the larger sprocket, the freak fixed that problem - and I haven't even knocked out any baffles, or as I intend, the reducer yet.

thats just the thing wasnt revving the snot out of it, it was just revving hard itself, and whats the point of having a bike when you cant ride a little hard now and again

Evidently, Triumph engineers thought these engines were safe to rev to the factory limits. I don't however think they intended them to be lugged around below 3000 rpms where they make little hp for extended periods.
