I hate it when the weatherman says there is rain in the forecast and I drive to work in my cage and it sunny all day long

Since last September when I was able to start riding again after knee surgery, I have ridden to work nearly every day. Only left the house one morning when it was raining when I left here, but I can't count the days I have been able to ride to work dry, and back home, while it rained a lot during the day while I was at work. Everybody there thinks I am suddenly "hard core", and "crazy" (they are right about that!), but I just laugh and smile when I walk out to enjoy a high speed strafing run home while they climb in their cages.

I couldn't keep my job if I was wrong just 1/2 as much as these so-called weather forecasters. I watch the forecast to see the "big picture" - where the Highs and Lows are, and what they are doing, and the Doppler radar. Then I make up my own mind what the forecast is going to be, and RIDE. When there is no news to report, these clowns make a 10% rain chance sound like a monsoon! How many people cancel great weekend/holiday plans because of some lousy flawed forecast? THAT ought to be a punishable offense!

I don't know which is worse - believing the forecast, or predicting it. Most days the sun shines a lot more than it rains, though.

Keith, I'm with you. I have started checking 3 different weather reports 5 times a day, and only then take it with a grain of salt. You learn to read the map and radar decide yourself.

Just remember, 20% chance of rain is an 80% chance of NO rain.
I'm taking those odds in Atlantic City!

IHIW - a link or web search finds the perfect product, from an American source, but they only do business via credit card.

Their otherwise excellent web site fails to provide a telephone number or snail mail address where a check could be sent.

I just ride. This last week I have been caught in the rain three times. The storms in the mountains are a fact of life. They are beautiful to watch come in. I did have to find shelter for the last one. I was soaked through my gear, couldn't see crap and then the wind and lightning started. Met a nice Honda rider headed for the Gap as we shared a gas station awning and drank coffee. 30 minutes waiting and we were good to go. It would be more important for accuracy for you guys trying to get to the job and not look like a drowned rat.

Ride safe,
BobW.

I hate it when you're working in an office with women of "a certain age" and they keep turning the thermostat down to sub-zero, beacause they're having hot flashes.

Hmmm, guess I'm going to have to think about getting some rain gear. I'm thinking of moving from the land of the annual shower to the land of the hourly thunderstorm.

What’s infuriating is that they think they have the right to do so, and if we respond in a less than gracious manner then WE’RE the bad guys. Not that I let THAT bother me

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

You mean people who have never shot a gun telling you how dangerous it is to ride, or people who have never ridden telling you how dangerous guns are????

I hate it when I get going down the road and get to wondering "did I close the garage door", and ride back to find out that I did. Now wait, that means more riding time (I'll have to do that more often).

I'll ride all day long in hot weather... but dispise getting caught in the rain. Might feel better about it when I get a few hundred more hours in the saddle.

I hate it when I'm stopped in line at a toll booth and a semi knocks my bar end mirror around the handlebars. It happened this morning on my son's speed triple. Scared the stuff out of me . I am hoping he just didn't see me. No sense in trying to fight a semi, so I flipped him off and zipped away.

apparently, this isn't an issue in Connecticut. Was just there on vacation with the family, and sitting across the parking lot from a Shop-Rite watching three kids ride their bikes right through the automatic doors and inside the store! WTF?! And nobody said a thing or did anything, cause they just putted around the front of the store for a second or two before parking and going shopping. I'd LOVE to try that here at my local Publix, just go rolling through the front doors and park my bike next to the convenience battery powered carts they have for the disabled. I'd make sure not to roll on the throttle TOO much though...

Hey, last summer, I got stuck riding up through the Midwest in a hot spell with nonstop 100-104 degree heat, and it was actually good (other than me smelling a bit ripe when I got where I was going!) I could stop, gulp down a half-liter of water or soda, and never have to stop for a ******, just sweated it all out as I was riding down the road! I would say 95 in my wifes convertible is a tad too hot, but not on the bike...

I hate it when you are working on your bike, forget to re-hook up the fuel line after putting the tank back on, then take off for a ride. the bike starts to act like it is out of gas, so you switch the gas on and oooooppppsss.

I hate when you're riding down a tree lined road with beautiful sweeping turns. Tre residents are far and few between, but, each gives a friendly wave as you ride by. Its cool and comfortable weather and the sun has only been up for about an hour. Dew still glistens in the adjacent meadows when suddenly and without warning, from the opposing direction, a knife juggler in a passing convertible looses control of a 6" dagger. It tumbles through the air, seemingly guided by some unknown entity. You try to bob, weave, dash and dart. But no matter where you go, the bloody thing lodges into your forehead. I REALLY hate when that happens.
