Right Boys & Girls... The Euro Rally next year is going to be in Sweden on either the 1st or 2nd weekend of August.. (actual dates to be confirmed as they say ) For the UK guys there are 2 or 3 options to get there.. 1. ride thro Europe, whch will take a least 2 days& the lovely Antwerp ring road again 2. get ferry from Newcastle to Gothenburg.. only problems are there are only 2 ferries per week, Monday & Thursday & it leaves Newcastle @ 3pm & arrives in Sweden @ 5pm the next day, we then have approx 3 hr ride to the venue. Also you have to book really early to get a good price, curently Aug 2006 over £500 per person + fuel surcharges?? 3. Harwich-Esbjerg, Denmark.... overnight ferry 3/4 times per week & then a good full days ride to the venue via the toll bidge between Denmark & Sweden.. Maybe Gooseman can confirm distance So we have some food for thought! We need to get confirmation from our friends in Sweden re the date options & I know it is a long way off but this way we can start putting some money in the piggy bank & I have a feeling that his one will be bigger & better than the last Over to you guys & Gals

Hiya Martyn
We've already talked my plans through for that run so I'll sit back and watch the fun if that's OK?
If you guys want me to sort shirts and patches again, I'm getting them in February this time to be sure of getting them!!!!!!!!!

Just had a thought, Jackie & I are going to see Gooseman next month & are going via Dunkerque on the 08.00hrs ferry and are planning to take 2 days. So I will let you all know route & how long etc.... only problem is that I might be a bit quicker on the Rocket!!! Adey..you better order the Teeshirts & patches up now for next year & tell them it's in January!! ... might ask Piper or Gooseman if there is an option to get them done in Sweden with "Hurdy gurdy" text on to make it more authentic

Ok guys, been doing a little research. Seems the more going the cheaper it gets, Dfds site Harwich to Esbjerg, 8 people 2x4 berth cabins 171 pounds each. Distance from Esbjerg to Jonkoping with multimap, quickest 629.6 km (391.2 miles) 5hours 55mins. Shortest 522.7km (324.8 miles) 12hours 12mins but thats using the ferry at Faergevej so thats not an option. Did the same for Newcastle-Gothenburg and that works out at 205 pounds each.Gothenburg-Jonkoping 150km (93.2miles) 1hour 31mins, swings and roundabouts realy when you take in petrol costs.

Nice one Andy, I think we have to make some decisions within the next months to get the best deals. I quite like the Harwich option as we then get the chance to go over the amazing bridge to Sweden but that means the guys up North have a long ride down again, we could split into 2 groups & meet a the venue ie Northern group via Newcastle/Gothenburg. I am sure someone from Sweden would meet them in Gothenburg & lead them in to the site. Southern group Harwich/Denmark... what do you think?? P.S Andy are you going to the Calne bike event this weekend?

So what you saying Gina... you don't like bridges? I mean it's only 3 times bigger than the Severn bridge, I don't see the problem & you can meet Andy on the way across & you would have less miles

Sounds like a winner to me - Harwich to Esbjerg, quite fancy the ride up through Denmark and over the bridge....
Nice work Andy, beats the 500 quid option. Could I book a cabin with no snorers please...
Cheers

Uhmm...I'm going to have to look into this... the Newcastle ferry's probably a better option for us if we can round up enough Northern support to get organised with a discount. If there's only going to be a couple of us I'd prefer to ride down Harwich, cross with you lads, get some more miles on the bike and see this bridge that everyone's on about! Plenty time to plan though, will see what the feedback is.

Looks like me and Nobby sharing a cabin then. Of course you lot could be gentleman/ladies(Gina), and wear ear plugs Of course you do realise putting me and Nobby in the same cabin, the boat will only go round in lopsided circles!!!!!!

Sounds good to me, either way, not missing out on this one and the Mrs may even be tempted. When working out routes please ensure plenty of fag breaks

Hi Danny. we spent three nights in germany, but im not sure how many it will be for sweden. i think at the moment this thread has been started to give people plenty of time to show there interest and plan ahead. Germany was a good crack and we are hoping more will come next year. Welcome aboard....

Wow...I have to admit that is some bridge! With islands and tunnels an all...! Think I’m going to have to reconsider and go for the Harwich – Esbjerg option. It’s only 240 odd mile down to Harwich from York, about 4 ½ hrs according to AA so maybe 6 hr with the coffee and fag breaks... stroll in the park! Better than 22 hr on a ferry anyway, and we’ll get to ride through another country and ride that bridge! It’s still a long way off and depends on dates, times, numbers and everything, but was thinking if any you guys from further North want to go down this route, and want a break, then you’re welcome to meet, rest, eat, drink, stopover or whatever here, then maybe we all head down to Harwich to meet the other lads?... just an idea...

As Thanassis will always win it, Martyn tells me it's a one off.
A doubting man would think Martyn said that just SO I wouldn't get it ..

I'm sure we'll think of something Gina...maybe if we have three riders in front of you, two either side and two behind, when you look around all you'll see is bikes and everything will be OK!
