1. For those of you that don't need the d-tool whar size screw driver do you use?part number would be great. I forgot to try oneout before I put it all back together. and the ones I have right now are to long.

2. How do you get off the clutch bracket on the tranny and the cluch lever?

There was a nice thread about the D-tool on the former site. Many solutions were detailed, but the one I liked the best was this: use a short piece of 1/4" plastic drip tube (yard watering stuff) slipped onto the end of a phillips screwdriver. The plastic will deform enough to go over the D shape and it's cheap at your local hardware store!

My idea was to use a small piece of brass or copper tubing, shaped (blacksmithed?) to the D-headed screw, and solder that brass piece onto a screwdriver shank.

Dude, I've found that the little screwdriver tips that come with the multitipped screwdrivers (the ones that have the 1" long interchangeable tips) are GREAT. They are short enough to get your big hands in under the carbs, and there is usually a small size (4mm wide, or approx. 1/8") that will work perfectly. Then, to keep track of how many turns, I mark one side with a big mark (0 degrees), and the other with a small mark (180 degrees) so I know full and half turns easily. I've got one of those type of screwdrivers, that has 4 bits on a flippable shank from the local car parts place, it has a large/small phillips on one end, and a large/small flat tip on the other. I just remove the flat tip insert, flip it to the small size, and it works perfectly. The inserts are about 2" long, and I can take a pic if you want so you get what I mean if you want.

Bellacorse has some handy dandy thumbscrew mixture screws that are nice...$40 or $50 a pair I think

I use my flat head bit from my 4 in 1 screwdriver. The smaller tip fits great, and the little spring loaded ball works well for indexing how many turns I made. Then I could flats for half turns, etc.

For your second question, are you talking about the cable? I had a helluva time getting mine off too, but it'll go.

I assume you want to do something with your cable?

To remove the clutch cable, free the rear locknut on the keeper loop (on the tranny case), take a 12" crescent wrench and put it on the clutch lever where the cable attaches to the tranny and ease it towards the front of the bike. Turn the cable so it lines up with the slot and the cable should come out very easy and the back nut will slide off. Free the cable so it is laying straight out from the lever up top. On the lever side (on the bars), turn both the adjuster and lock so the slots line up and then work the cable out. Look closely under the lever and you will see what I mean.

I used a modified socket (4mm?) to get the D screws out and then I cut screwdriver slits into the heads of the D screws with my dremel tool, now I just use a screwdriver to adjust my air mixture screws like everyone else in the world.
