Hi everyone, im going to give this a go in my worst english so here goes...
I woke up bright and early on thursday morning with the intention of grabbing a few hours sleep later on in the day. After packing and double checking i had everything it was time for more sleep, but i think the excitment of the trip ahead got to me and it didnt happen
So i loaded the bike early evening and headed to martyns. Greg was all ready there and when Shaun (nobby) arrived we were fed and watered by martyns wife (thanks jackie).
After that we headed to the midnight meeting point on the M20 where Andy (steershead) and Dave (daffyd)and mandy were waiting. Adey arrived so we headed of to dover in the hope of getting an earlier crossing.
As you know what happened at dover with Adey i wont go over it again, all i can say is personally i was gutted for him and we all felt the same.
Anyway we managed to get the 2 AM crossing to dunkirk, so the 6 bikes were loaded on the ferry and we were on our way.

We were all pretty tired by then as none of us had slept but at about 5.30 french time we were rolling of the ferry and on our way to asendorf.
After a 400 mile journey we arrived at Roberts hostel in assendorf to be greeted by the early arrivals. i think it was about 4 or 5 pm by then. we put the tents up and cracked open a beer or two.
Friday evening we invaded a local restraunt that robert had kindly booked for us.
Saturday morning came and with it a choice of ride outs. Robert had said he would take the group on a tour of the local sights. And nick said he would take a few of us to Hamburg where harley days was happening.
Nick ,shaun, greg, andy and myself headed of to hamburg to see the sights.
Saturday evening was prizegiving night. Bedouin won furthest travelled, gooseman won best custom and martyn suprisingly won best rat but decided that greg should be the winner Peter (hotdog had made plaques for us all which was a nice gesture and robert had a barbeque going.
The beer was flowing well and pawel introduced some vodka and a drink called spirytus to help the party along.
Sunday was chill out day although we did manage a group ride out to mcdonalds for lunch which was quite amusing. Steve and mark headed back to england and later that night thanassis began his long journy back to greece.
We were all up early on monday for the journey home. Johann and Bengt headed back to sweden ,greg of to poland, and the rest of us back to "good old blighty". Despite the heat on the way back we had a good journey and managed it 2 hours quicker and got on an earlier ferry returning in to the uk at about 7.30pm.
Personally speaking it was a fantastic trip and im glad to have met each and every member that was there. Hopefully next year there will be more members taking part.. Roll on next year.
Ive put all the photos i took at this link so enjoy..

I will get it back tomorrow I am told, so I am looking forward to that, still be a little while till I get it on the road. Off to Queensland on Friday (in the car ) I will have to keep an eye out for sandman

OK - Guys the Euro Rall has officially ended.

Just a short note to say I just got in about an hour ago (and can barely see my nose from tiredness).

All in all, a great ride and a great meet.
More later.

Hi Dave,

That 'version' doesn't have a jpg extention. Click right above where it says 'all sizes'. I would suggest using the large version....

Great write up and pix. The one orange can of liquid looks spookily like Sparks though.
Glad it was a safe trip for all.
Maybe some of us from this side can make it next year.

Hey Guys and Girls,

Just a few more pics, you'll be getting bored by now and there is bound to be repetition.

They are not in order, cos like a plum I changed the file names and haven't got the hang of this flickr, but hopefully enjoyable, nevertheless.

Bedouin, glad you got home safe and sound, you are an inspiration to us all.

Cheers

Mark

Nice to hear from you Thanassis! Next year's ride will be just a wee bit longer...

Phil, Mark, Bengt - Thanks guys. It was well worth the effort.

If you guys keep increasing MY Asendorf riding distance by 25 per cent each year, I'll have no trouble attending the Georgia rally (as a matter of course) by the year 2010.

Like I said, Sweden presents a great ride and cultural opportunity for me (that, combined with a good reason i.e. the annual European BA Rally) as I have never ridden a bike to, or toured in that region to date and it certainly wouldn't have entered my head (at least not at this time) otherwise.

BTW, I am doing a small write-up on my run to and from Asendorf, which I will post later tonight or tomorrow sometime, to include a few pictures.

Thank you one and all.

Thanassis

Good to hear from you, it was a pleasure meeting & riding with you over the weekend & Megan says thanks again for the speakers.

Looking forward to your write up, you should send it to Torque magazine.

Take care, ride safe & see you in Sweden if not before!

Martyn If you have to ask why I ride, you wouldn't understand the answer!

Martyn,

It was also a pleasure to meet you and I (as you noticed) particularly enjoyed the short blast through the twisty parts the two of us rode on the way back to the hostel on the Saturday.
Tell Megan it's a pleasure and good Kharma.

About the write-up - it's getting quite lengthy (and probably boring).
I'll see if I can get it done for tomorrow night (Monday).

As you say, see you in Sweden if not before (I'm already ready for another run).

Ok! I finally got it posted. Sorry for the delay but I have been juggling too many things since my return.
Check out "The Bedouins run - Asendorf 2006" in this section.
I also intend to add another post with a few pictures that I have taken.
Cheers!
