Do the small magnetic tank bags scuff or scratch the finish on tanks? The Corbin bag ad states that it doesn't. Any experience with these?

They all do. Get a sheer mask tank protective adhesive. The thin clear ones are almost impossible to see when you remove the bag.

Had a Tourmaster 18L strap-on that had what must have been a quarter inch thick pad. Strapped to a 6.5 gal Trident tank. No marks at all. After letting it go with the bike when I sold it, I just had to have another. The bag strapped to the BA works great. No marks on the tank... yet. Never heard anything good about magnetics. I'd be paranoid about slapping it on the tank and denting it, and having it screw up my digital camera and anything else I'd put in it. If they're powerful enough to keep it attached to the bike, they must be powerful enough to wipe out e-stuff.

jj, Excellent point... That is exactly the kind of stuff you would put in a tank bag, camera, cel phone, hand held GPS, etc.

Another thing to consider too, the magnets could possibly "confuse" electronic stuff that has internal programming you put in the bag.

Any suggestions on where to get the sheer tank protector? I bought the mini-magnetic bag yesterday but the bike shop didn't have any of the protectors in stock. Is any one protector better than others? Thanks! Sue

I ordered this one from Dallas Motorcycle Accessories. FWIW, my magnetic tank bag is full of electronics and I've never had a problem. I use this bag on my KLR650 also and it's hung on just fine even when I've crashed in the dirt.

Listen to Todd's voice of experience. I should not speak ill of the magnetic bags as I've never used one... just paranoid I guess.

I bought an OXFORD SPRINT yesterday. Not expandable, but will do what I need for now. Fit really well, and never know it's there when hauling a$$ down the highway. Here is a link: The Lockitt,Company
Found it at the local Honda dealer, but bought it from a proper Triumph-riding (04 T100 / 05 Thruxton) salesman.
