So - I ordered the stainless tubing to re-inforce the shifter linkage from the good advice in this post: LINK and I had a decent size piece left. I have been trying to come up with a simpler way to get the trunk on and off the fender rack....and came up with this....it allows a very secure outer mounting point and really keeps the bag from sliding side to side, plus it detaches quickly.

1. recycled stainless tubing from McMaster-Carr (see other post)
2. 5/16" threaded stainless rod from hardware store
3. 2 acorn nuts and a few washers.
4. 2 cable clamps to attach to the rack
4. Straps of your choice - I had a few nylon straps with grommets in them laying around....

With the threaded rod inside the tubing, it is super strong and is not that noticable on the bike....

Nice bike and great idea. Very cool stuff.

Where can I find straps with grommets? That's pretty cool...

Did you look on the little shelf next to door in the entryway? You know, the little shelf where all the junk collects? Thats where I found mine, and I picked them up and said cool, little straps with grommets!

haha yeah I checked there. I have plenty of straps, and I have grommets I could try stamping into them, but I'd rather have them factory made..

Benny - after a little Sunday cruise today - the ole straps with grommets are already starting to tear around the grommets....looks like plan B is in order....

BTW - I did find this SITE and they are a short drive from here. Maybe I stop and see if they'll part with some? Anyone else interested?
