Leaving Sunday for Table Rock State Park in South Carolina north of Greenville, SC. Just on the the South and North Carolina border. "The highest point in South Carolina"(maybe in the old days )going to camp and ride from Monday till Friday. Going to do this little ride and camping trip by myself. I look in my living room and it looks like I am going to be gone for a month. I hate to say it but I am going to trailer the bike up and back only because I have to pick up my daughter at camp on Friday and bring her and her gear back to Florida. Mainly will be touring around the Cherokee Scenic Highway (HWY 11). Any ideas of good rodes in this area. Will post pics on my return.

Great area to ride. If you are staying at Table Rock State Park, just imagine that everything north of 11 is very good stuff. You will especially want to head to the little resort communities of Highlands and Cashiers. GREAT biking roads, and neat little areas to hang at for lunch. If you are at Table Rock, try taking 11 south until you pass Lake Jocassee, and take the immediate right to head north. I think the road is 130 maybe. There was some road construction a few months ago when I was there, but it was no problem. Anyway you can head to both Highlands and Cashiers from there.

You would also want to explore north out of Table Rock. Take 11 north for just a ways until you hit 276. Take 276 north to Caesars Head State Park. Its been a long time since I went this way, but it is beautiful. You can keep north on 276 to Brevard. Brevard is another neat little place. Continue on through Brevard on 276 for a couple of miles until you hit the red light where 276 goes left into the Pisgah Forest. One of my favorite rides is taking 276 into the Pisgah Forest here on the Davidson River Road. You wind along the river for a ways, then start to climb on some nice twisty roads on up to the Blue Ridge Parkway. You could then take the Parkway south towards Smokey Mountain National Park, or you could get off the Parkway a little early and head south toward Franklin and circle back towards Highlands and back to Table Rock.

If you have more time, going north on the Parkway would take you up toward Asheville and on up toward Mt Mitchell, the highest mountain east of the Mississippi.

Of course, you are also pretty close to the north Georgia and east Tennessee mountains. I am not as familiar as some of the others here on those areas, but you are indeed close.

If you need one, there is a Triumph dealer very close to you in Greenville. Unfortunately, Triumphs seem to be an afterthought for them, as they mainly sale the Jap bikes. A great dealer is in south Asheville, Myers Triumph Ducati.

Have a great trip. If you need any detailed information, just let me know. I am very familiar with this part of SC and NC.

Hey Mike,
Thanks! Got my high lighter and with your help got a lot rodes to ride. The Highlands, Cashier looks good. My daughters camp is right off of 276 so I had already planned to ride this rode to see if I can get my trailor and truck throught there to pick her up. So both of these routes will be part of my ride. Thanks for the info. I will let you know how it goes when I get back. later

If you are going to Highland and Cashiers you have got to ride the road that goes from Cashiers to Franklin. Be careful of cars shortcutting the corners.

Thanks Guys,
What a great ride. I knew I loved my bike, but living in Florida where every road is flat and straight it was great to see what our bikes can really do. Plenty of practice with counter stearing. Mike, I did the Highlands, Cashier route you told me about, then took 64 over to Brevard (cool little town). Cashiers was really crowded, must be Atlanta money, lot of Land Rovers, Beamers and Lexus. Aslo 276 to Ceasars Head State park was a great road. My daughter was at camp about five miles from there. Had a great three days but on the fourth day got rained out and packed my tent up and went into to Greenville and got a motel room. But got a couple days of unplanned riding in Charleston on the way up I had not planned on. Out toward Beufort and around the lowland south of Charleston. Thanks again for the suggestions. It was one of the best rides I have had in awhile
