So I'm listening to the radio yesterday morning as I'm getting ready for work. Occasionally they give away tickets to the 13th caller, etc. But yesterday it was "name that backwards tune". I identified it as "Wake me up before you go go" by Wham (I admit to having a soft spot for 80's music) and I happened to get thru on the phone and won tickets to TWO concerts. Next tuesday I'll be seeing Dicky Betts and Kenny Wayne Sheopard (backed by Double Trouble), and on Wed I'm seeing the Black Crowes at the beach!! Yeah baby! I wanted to get tix for the Crowes anyway, but we thought Kim would be out of town, and it is a week day, etc. But Kim is getting home tuesday at 3! So we'll go home, chill, have some din din, and then head to Westbury for Dicky and Kenny! Oh yeah

Wait..I wasn't invited. Wait again..I'm 3000 miles away. Hmmmm
Have a GREAT TIME.

Nice going Benny! That should be a great show.By "Double Trouble", do you mean SRV's band? I'm sure I told you I worked for about 10 years with Johnny Winter. He was always miffed by the fact that Stevie Ray never acknowledged him as an influence. Influence? Heck, he had Tommy Shannon playing bass. Tommy and Uncle John Turner (on drums)played Woodstock with Johnny in '69. When he was about 12 or 13, Butch's nephew Derek opened some shows for Johnny. His hands were so small, that he couldn't work the fingerboard, so he just played slide. Many said he sounded alot like Duane, I'd have to agree, kind of sent shivers up my spine. Anyway, enjoy the shows! Charlie

Yeah that is just one of those songs that I've known for SO long that I recognized a note or two and got it. Yes I assume they mean that double trouble. Not sure what songs they will play... I saw KWS last summer and he had his usual band who is GREAT by the way. The singer wails and the keyboardist is amazing. In fact he played with Bonomassa's band that night too. I've always loved SRV too. My coworker and I were saying to day how ironic it was that he died once he got clean from drugs!! I also like Johnny Winter. Good times. Speaking of which, Muddy Waters "Hard Again", produced by Johnny who also played on it, is probably my all time fav blues album. Can't wait to see the crowes too!! Jimmy Page's favorite band I hear

Congrats, two concerts for free! I just paid $100.00 to see Crosby, Stills Nash and Young. Hope it will be worth it.

Kids. You guys are just too young. I couldn't barely stand a concert,no matter who it is, if it's after 9pm. I need my beauty sleep. {insert old fart comments at will}

In 87 I went to a show with in Davenport, Iowa ( a great setting for a concert, on a natural, downtown, along the Mighty Mississippi River ) that had Steppenwolf as the lead, then the Allman Bros, and the top bill was Stevie Ray. How great that was!!!
The Black Crowes will be at a festival in Davenport in September. The other acts look real good too.

Kenny Wayne Shepard Saw him a couple of years ago when he played down here in Chattanooga. Bloody brilliant. Enjoy....... Pssst. Keep this really quite. I saw Wham play live. Cant remember when, but it was at Wembley Stadium for the Farewell show. I volunteered to work as a barman at the stadium. Arrived, got my volunteers shirt, pulled one pint (for my self) then buggered off into the crowed and watched the show. Wham were all right, but Gary Glitter was brilliant. It was one loud concert. Not the music, that was quite. Im talking about the screaming 8 year old girls.

Yeah I'm gonna bring some earplugs I think! I always forget. Not so much for the beach, that's outdoors, but Westburry is a small, indoor place. It is in the round, so that should be interesting!

The cool thing was this was in a bar when they were bar bands playing the colleges around Georgia. I think there were les that 50 people there. I wonder what ever happened to the Swimming pool Q’s they were the headliners.
