Well, my sweet husband attached my footboards for me. We found that the brake lever HITS the board--enough to make you wonder if you can get FULL BRAKE when you REALLY NEED it-- and the shifter lever taps the footboard when you want to get it down into first gear. We tried rigging the brake side with extra washers with the bolt, BUT it messes up the littler (short)piece that fits into the bracket to keep it in place ---so the whole thing ends up wobbling and loose. I am bumming. We had directions, such as they were, plus it's about a 'no brainer' isn't it? I hate buying over the internet because you get reamed on returns, if you are even able to return. It's been more than 30 days also. I bought this from TriumpheStore.com. Any suggestions? I don't mind modifications TO A POINT, but these brackets just could be a bad quality control day, huh?

You may just need to adjust the rear brake, so that the pedal sits up a bit higher, this would also raise the point where it's at it's full compression. The way that I did it is to take the clip and pin out of the bottom of the linkage, loosen the top lock nut, and physically spin the shaft to raise the pedal up. Same for the shifter linkage, trace the linkage back to the shaft coming out of the clutch cover, and remove the bolt that fastens the linkage arm to the splined shaft. Slie the linkage arm off, and re-orient it onto the splined shaft, to adjust it. Rotating the arm clockwise will raise the shifter up.

Adjust those pedals first. Also, might need to bleed the brakes if the pedal feels mushy at all.

And you may have the boards on backwards. I put mine on backwards on purpose to get a tad more legroom and had to adjust both brake and shifter up high to get clearance.
Normal board installation puts the longer end towards the rear of the bike.

When I had the Triumph footboards installed on my '06 America I asked the dealership to insure that the shift and brake pedals were 1-1/2" above the boards so the toes of my boots would slide under them on long-haul trips. That 1-1/2" gives a bit of addition clearance just above the toes for foot moving.
They did it, I'm happy.
