Greetings, all.
I never expected to be purchasing a Triumph, but I'm finding it difficult to say "no" to a 2004 America that I saw on the lot the other day. She only has 4K miles on het too.
If I can get it out the door (taxes, fees, etc. included) for $5,300, would that be a good deal for the bike?
It's been ages since I've ridden Triumphs and Nortons, so I'm not up on their values.
Thanks in advance.
HR
P.S. She's green and I'm in the desert part of the country.

Thanks for the cheerleading. I think that I will.
It has a 3.something gallon tank, and someone said that it can be replaced with a larger one (5.something gallon).
Any truth to that?
Thanks again.

HeadlessRider, Welcome. Actually, the America tank holds 4.4 gallons of gas. As far as I know, there isn't a larger tank available. The average range is about 140 miles. however, you'll find yourself turning the petcock to the reserve side at about a little over 100 miles. My advice....that's a very good price for a nice low-mileage America, so get yourself the best made, the best handling "cruiser" on the market, and the coolest motorcycle you'd ever hope to purchase for a measly 5300 samoleans. Cheers, Dwight
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Thanks, Dwight.
The reason why I went looking for a middleweight bike is my daughter, who is 7, has been pressuring me to get another bike... after I sold my '97 Valkyrie last year. She misses riding passenger, and loves the look of the bike. No doubt you would say that she has great taste, eh? I'll be looking to get a stock driver's and passenger's seat (she comes with a gunslinger), along with a sissy bar, after the purchase.
Thanks again.

You'll probably be able to pick up good used Triumph America seats here to replace your Speedmaster one from one of the folks who've bought aftermarket seats. Just put an advert in the classifieds.
You could put an advert in for the sissybar too, but they're a little thinner on the ground and more sought after.

Grump says "The average range is about 140 miles. however, you'll find yourself turning the petcock to the reserve side at about a little over 100 miles" Though that has happened to me before, it's very rare I do less that 130 before switching over. 100 was a VERY windy when I was a fat b*stard! Normal is high 120's. I don't ride slow either. I like to hear my baffle-less pipes ya see!! Suppose it depends a lot how you normally ride and the bike set-up too.

Welcome aboard.
Fred has a sissy bar for sale in the classifieds now. You may want to get it as they don't come by often. They come in short and tall, and most like the tall, but for your daughter a short should be fine, and it's a good price too!

The short bar works fine and his price is very resonable.
My only suggestion is to pay for the bike with dollars. Dwight is on another exchange rate with samoleans. The price on the bike is very, very, reasonable.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

Maybe they meant the main supply. The reserve is just short of a gallon.
At any rate, take it for a test ride. At that price, unless it was so bably abused that you will be able to tell right off, it is a real deal.

Buy them while they're cheap. No one recognizes the value of the new Triumphs. I'm at 44,000 miles and not one single problem other than a broken speedo & throttle cable at 42,000 miles (i'm too cheap to replace them when scheduled).

You gotta buy it... sounds like a good price but definately ride it first. I did a lot of looking new and used, before deciding that either way was an exceptional value... got a new speedmaster. These bikes will not dissappoint. I agree with what Skillet said and it seems only like a matter of time with more new riders, a second factory, and increased demand due to gas prices, the prices will go up. Hope it works out for you... good luck.

I agree with everyone else, very cheap compared to the UK price £6000.00 or $11000.00..

You better grab it before Martlet hears about it. He has been looking a couple of weeks now and can not find anything.
I bought mine new as the "wifey" will never let me buy anything used every again after "my boat phase".
The price seems reasonable and only 4K it is new.
Welcome aboard and good luck.

Wow! Permit me to say it again. WOW! What a beautiful piece of moving art. My compliments. Nicely done. I gotta be honest with you, though. I have 35 inch inseams and stand 6'4". And if the pegs weren't as forward as they are, I probably would've passed on the bike. As it is, I love how my footsies rest on the pegs. Can't wait to get a pair of Rivco floorboards too. I had 'em on my Valk and loved 'em. Nice piece of work, once again. HR
