Friends-

new to the group, but if you will pardon some ramblin'

An absolutely great ride today. I left the house to run some errands around noon and finished by around three. I said to myself, "what the heck, lets run to the mountains". I spun the speedmaster around and headed southeast, letting the bike choose the road. Before I knew it I was on TN 129 heading toward North Carolina. I stopped at Fontana Dam and dug my Ipod out of the saddle bags (One of the errands was to Best Buy for some new 'phones) and fired it up. I generally don't ride with it, but there are no cross streets on the draggon. I dialed up The Who and screwed the throttle on. It was great.

For those who have not had the pleasure of riding the draggon, It is excellent. Banking into the curves with Pete Townsands guitar wailing was a near religious experiance. I saw a whole lot of sport bike (including one dumped on a particularly hairy curve) and several Harleys and "Harley-compatables", but I was the only Brit Iron I saw.

Pirsing wrote in "Zen and the Art of Motorcyle Maintainence" that "The Buddha, the Godhead resides quite as comfortably in the circuits of a digital computer or the gears of a cycle transmission as he does at the top of a mountain or in the petals of a flower." When old Bob wrote that he must have been thinking about the Draggon and a Triumph because Buddha was happy....

Just felt the need to share,

TM

I rode to Charleston SC last summer and listened to some great music on my MP3 player, it was surreal. However I think I prefer no music most of the time on a motorbike
Peace and welcome to the group!

Will have to try music, never really had the courage. Am afraid I will forget I am on two wheels listening to the tunes.

I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

I use to think that too. But, I keep the music to a level that I can hear it and still pretty much hear everything else. It is almost like being in a movie with music in the background, it's there but not distracting.

Welcome aboard Tennesseemike, pun intended. Knoxville eh. I just happen to live in Knoxvegas myself. Glad to see another Trump show up in my town. A least four or so America/Speedies in and around Knoxville.
Drop me a PM if you would like to get together for a ride.
Stop by The Time Warp Tea Room on Central Ave Tuesday nights. Lot's of Old Vintage bikes and good coffee.

K-town mike- Have recently checked out the tea-room. I will surely hit vintage bike night on tuesday.

PapaDean- Not on buttenut Circle anymore. That's the folks house. If you are familiar with Knoxville, my wife and I Live in Forth and Gill.

Today was a more "Ted Nugent" kind of day, as some friends and I rode out to a buddies land, shot about 400 rounds, and then rode back and grilled...

Welcome T-Mike. What a great area to have a Triumph. I just love Knoxville, the natives are very friendly and I can't get enough of the accent on those pretty southern belles there. I am sure you will be burning up those curvey Tennessee highways, also. Keep you ADA badge handy in case you get stopped.

Unfortunately the badge only works in TN. The dragon end in North Carolina...

Talk about a GREAT DAY I have the privlege of not only owning a new America but also have my own airplane (cessna Skylane) What better day than riding my bike (taking all the back roads) to the local airport and hopping in my plane for a nice air tour over Pittsburgh and the regatta which is currently underway. On my way back to the airport I had the thrill anc challenge of landing my plane with a direct cross wind from the west at 19 knots gusting to 23.
After safely landing my plane I put it in the hangar and admired my Triumph waiting for me under the wing. I then proceeded for a incredible long ride home. I thought to myself it just doesn't get any better than this. Then I thought yes it does. I am off tomorrow, I can do it again!!
