Has anyone removed the heat shields from the head pipes? The small ones near the mufflers are no big deal but how about the double wall around the 2 bends?

No, I have not. I'd love single wall high quality chrome head pipes. I haven't cut into these - I was afraid I'd find Jimmy Hoffa in there.
That would take some explaining.
