Anyone know where to find bungee bolts for an America? I don't know if they'd go on the fender mounting bolts or the shock mounts, but it would be a convenient thing to have. Any ideas?

Using a luggage rack on the rear fender would give you plenty of purchase points for hooks. The easybracket posts are too thick to use on most reasonably sized bungee cords, but you can also get the bungee cargo nets that have the ability to hook to themselves.

I made some tie-down rings similar to this . Instead of using metal flat strap, I used a short piece of black 1 inch nylon strap and a d-ring. I ran the nylon strap through the ring and doubled it back on itself. Then I burned a hole through the strap for the fender bolt to go through, and I cut the strap to length with a hot knife so it wouldn't fray. I also added a washer, painted black, over the strap to hold it more secure. They were simple and cheap to make, and they look and work great.

Hmmm......why? the chrome fender braces work fine as they are just by hooking the cord underneath them. Theres a good size gap between the braces and the fender. just use bungees with plastic coating on the hooks and they won't scratch or cause any problems. Been doing it for the year i've had my bike and not a scratch and it works perfect? In fact i've been riding to work for the last month or so and when i leave it's too hot to wear the jacket i wear in the morning so i bungee it on every day. Just use the right bungee hook size and plasticized as i said (or cover them with heat shrink) and you don't need any kind of bolts/hooks.

EZ bracket posts work great for bungees and there is enough space to run a nylon strap under them too. I do that for a duffle.
