Motorcycles... now part of the global economy. Will be even more riders if The good ol US and Tehran keep rattling swords. Oil will tripple in price. I guess I will have to learn how to balance a tractor tire, chickens, bag a cement and the family on the back of my old Honda CL90. Mark

Man! You guys are SO misinformed!
John Bloor IS Elvis!!! I thought you guys would'a figured THIS ONE out on your own...like I DID!
Well...okay! I admit it. It was REALLY Luther(the guy in my ward, two beds down to the right) who came up with THIS little theory.
But it makes PERFECT SENSE to ME!

Until I see press releases or genuine news articles, I have a tendency to not believe much of anything. I definitly am not one of those "It must be true, I read it on the interenet" people. Otherwise, I would belive that Elvis is one of the top agents for the D.E.A. Soren

That's actually one of the most believable, if you know a bit about how Chinese business works. If a foreign company wants to start business in China they HAVE to have a 50% partnership with a local company, or the (communist) Chinese gov't won't let it happen. If General Motors can't get around it, what makes you think Harley Davidson can?

How DARE you insult the memory of 'The King!' I think I'll have to leave the building now and go get myself a jelly donut (or twelve) just to settle myself down after hearing such sacrelige. Such statements make me sweat like a pig and shoot my TV out with a silver plated .45 ACP!!

I love watching these threads twist
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

I wonder if Elvis ever experienced the tasty delisciousness of a Jaffa Cake. Hmmmm... I posted a few weeks ago that my local Triumph dealer had sold the dealership to the local BMW dealer. I haven't been to the new place since this happened. I'd like to see a photo shop 'what if' picture of what a Speedmaster/America would look like with a BMW boxer engine in it instead of a parallel twin. Mmmmmmmm, deep fried JAFFA Cakes!!!!!

Since BMW have just started producing bikes with parralel twin engines, I wouldn't imagine they would install a boxer engine on a Triumph, if of course the rumours were true.

BMW sure cleaned up the Cooper Mini. I just don't think Triumph needs that treatment. For all the bitching we do about Triumph the corporation, I think we all love Triumph the motorcycle.

If this is true than it wont be too long before we cant afford to buy a new triumph. That was a big selling point for me, quality, indivdaulism, and a great price.

I'm trying to remember, doesn't the price have to do with Britain not going to the Euro or something? Hurray for the Pound!

Maybe Elvis is buying Triumph And Bedouin are the new BMW 800 twins really BMW's since their engines are made by Bombadire-Rotax? I do like the SportTouring model though. Ooops.... I should be sent w/o my supper to the Other Bikes section.

I'm with ya TBA Rider, My dealer picked up the BMW line a few months back. Service used to be decent. Since he brought in the beemer line service sux. Guess us ole triumph boys just don't have the money to spend like the BWM geeks. That's OK Triumph of Chattanooga is only 1 hour and 45 min ride. They probably sell bikes cheaper than anyone in the south. I'm sure he will be glad to take a little more business from his competition!

I've already been working on my bike to be ready for this. Should the rumors be real, I've developed a pivot mount, so that I can roll my engine over on it's side to look like an old airhead Beemer (complete with fake left cylinder) Then I can go to Chys rally one weekend, flip the motor and go to the Beemer rallies as well....

PES, Good point. There is no way I can claim any specific knowledge regarding the development of the 800cc P-Twin engine BMW are now using. However, I would suspect that Bombardier-Rotax were given the manufacturing specs and design by BMW (therefore outsourcing the manufacturing etc.) as was the case with the Aprilia Mille 1000cc engine (on one of my other bikes). I can't see Rotax designing and developing an engine for their own sales purposes as these powerplants are both brand and bike specific. So, in this sense, I would say Yes, these engines are BMW's. Rotax may have retained the rights to build and sell these engines to another brand (as was the case with the single 650 engines used by both BMW, Aprilia and a certain one-off Norton model which was made in Germany) but somehow I don't think BMW would allow their efforts to be diluted, especially in this unique engine capacity segment (800cc water-cooled).
Bedouin.

Could BMW be buing Triumph automobiles ?
After BMW aquiring Mini, and being sucesful, I won't be suprised to see a new roadster join the Mini in the showroom.
