when replacing tires, do most folks stay with the stock sizes? I know that with my old Bonnie, folks swapped out the stock 130 rear for either a 140 or a 150
Comments?

Do a search, most people stick with close to stock sizes, but I had to go one size down for my front to get the Avon tire I wanted.

I've recently started tire shopping myself and come to the conclusion that there are very few front 110/80 - R18 tube-type tires available.
Be careful what size you go with as you may need to make fender mods to get them to fit if you go larger.

It would be nice if there were a list someplace of what tires people have used and which sizes fit without mods. Also whether the tire is tube or tubeless and if it is tubeless if the manufacturer has okayed it for use in tube-type applications.

Ernesto! If you're out there, what size are your white-walls?

I emailed Avon to see if it was acceptable to use a tube
in the venom tires since some makers say do not tube a tubeless
tire and there reply was "If using a tube type rim then use
a tube". I thought they could have just said yes it is OK.

I as well stayed with the stock front tire but I wanted something a little beefier in the rear. I was looking for a 200 series but our rear rims are only 3.5 inches wide. We need a minimum 5 inch rim to fit a 200 series tire. So I found a used SM mag wheel on Ebay and decided to put a 180 series tire on that and put in on my America. Man does it look sweet. Looks like a real hot rod now. I went with a Pirelli 180/70 rear tire. I like the tread pattern and the price was right at the time. I'll have to post pics.

Looking forward to seeing the pics.

I saw it in the Triumph brochure, and I have seen others post here before - that they have a radial front tire, (and I presume a radial rear tire, also). That is what the "R" represents in the tire size. Have not personally seen the radials on any Speedmasters, but have noticed that the 2005 T100 and Thruxtons at my dealer carry a radial rear , but a bias ply (but still tubeless) front tire.

Am very interested in hearing from anyone who has radial tires in stock sizes on their Speedmaster. If I knew that they worked without causing any problems, i.e., that the suspension systems on the bike support the use of radial tires, I would certainly be looking to buy radials for mine when the time came. Feedback, please!
