Generally this occurs when something was done to the sprocket cover, or in that area, causing the neutral wire to get pinched. Do anything to the bike while it was in the garage for 3 weeks?

Pull the front sprocket cover, see if the wire is pinched, crushed or broken . If so fix it, carefully reinstall the cover and all's well . We have a sub-club here of those who have done so .

I usually chime in and whine about p-poor design when I hear of yet another case of this happening. Apparently, Triumph engineers have re-routed the wires on the '06s. Be careful, you can start it in gear.

Hey, did you check the wires yet or what?
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

Thank you for allowing me to join the PW (PINCHED WIRE )club. It so happened that the sprocket wizard visited one night and as careful as he thought he was ,not careful enough. Thanks for the advise .

No sweat James, did that to myself just last weekend, and of course, my first thought was not something that simple, but "Oh crap, where is the sensor at and how much is it going to cost and how hard is it to replace?!" It's MUCH better when it works out to something simple like that...
