I just did the 'Ole airbox mod and rejetted.
WHY DIDN'T I DO THIS THE DAY I GOT IT?
What a difference.
I do have a question concerning the air/mixture adjustment.
Here is what I have...
06 TBA, Mod exhaust, Mod airbox, Ai's + Snorkels out, 132 main jets(per Dinqua's jet calc), 3 turns out.
I started her up and no huffin or puffin or poppin, so I didn't do anything more to the mixture. I went for about a 8 mile ride. She gets going now.. wow.. No popping on decel, it is actualy very quite? Ran awesome. Maybe I was just paying too much attention, but it sounded a little "airy" out the exhaust when riding. I really don't know how else to explain it. Almost like the exhaust got more quite. If I am idling and snatch the throttle real fast, it will "bogg" for a split second. Is this my mixture? Which way to turn them if so?
Thanx in advance

If it's fine above 3000 - 3200 up to the rev limit, you need a litthe more gas at the low end, Try turning the idle screws out a little at a time and see if it gets better. If you reach 4 - 4 1/2 turns before it's perfect, you should consider a step or 2 bigger pilot jets.

I have no tach, and I haven't found the rev limiter yet. But yes, it did seem fine in the higher RPM's. So, Just work them out 1/4 turn at a time? Will i notice any difference at idle? Thanx Ed

My setup matches your exactly with the following exceptions:

- '05 TBA
- TOR longs
- 3.5 turns out when using stock idle mixture screws
- 2 Shims on stock needles
-- Used small brass washers found at Home Depot
- I synch carbs after every tweek using following method:

>$10 Carb Synch

I can't comment on "airy" pipes as I've never had that problem, but no "bogg"ing with my setup. So... give the shimming and synching a try.

Regards,

Tom

i have removed three snorkels, have not replace jets and i have mine at 3 turns, i feel a little hesitation when i am at about 60 and hit the gas, from a stop i can tell the difference it will take out without any hesitation very responcesive, i am waiting to change the jets out till i get some of the out mods. done, i have a question about shimming the jets? do you raise the jets from their sets with the washers.

The shimming is done to the needles...

I have a similar set up also
05 Green TBA
snorkle & ai out
drilled air box
long TOR
130 main
3 turns out

I have no popping, hesitation, runs great. This is the way it should have came. I did notice when I modified the airbox it made the exhaust a little louder but thats all good.

Here's a link to Pat's site with a great set of easily accomplished step-by-step procedures for shimming the needles:

Needle Shimming 101

I took my needles to the local hardware store and found some small brass washers that fit.

Tom

Just be sure if you are getting off the shelf washers that they are the same thickness!
