Just curious, what the average life time of battery's in our bikes might be. My batttery is about 2 and 1/2 years old now and seems to be getting a little weak. I have a battery tender. Just never seem to get time to plug it in. It takes me all of 30 seconds to do this .

I replaced mine after three years. Nothing wrong with it that I could tell but I've been stuck roadside before with a flat battery. I figure a little preventive maintenance couldn't hurt.

I think the average is 3-4 years. My lasted for about 3 1/2.

I have an '02...I bought it in '05 with only about 7k km (4200 mi) on it...apparently it had been stored for a year or so...to the best of my knowledge, the original battery is still in it. I bring it indoors during the winter, and put it on trickle charge. Still starts easily and reliably.

Knock on wood!! Mine is an 02 and still running the original battery with no problems or signs of it getting weak. I put it in heated storage over winter and do not even put it on the trickle charger over winter as there is no electricity available there. I could pull the battery but I just figure if I go there come spring and she doesn't start I'll throw another battery in her at this point, I think I got my money out of the battery by now.

Battery life depends on the climate. I live in the desert, which is one of the worst places for a battery. I get about 3 years with a car battery, and don't take any chances with my bike so I replaced it with Brent's AGM battery after 2 years. The AGM I'll probably let go 3 years before replacing.

Picked up the bike new in 5/02. Have over 40k, never been on a tender and still has the original battery with plenty of life in it.
