Can anyone provide thoughts on what these look like in person? I was told the kit includes both the front mudguard & tank, both of which have the airbrushed flames. Is this true?
How much is it really worth, considering the alternative would be to buy a second tank & mudguard and then have custom paint done?

Yes, it is true. I am not sure if it is worth $800 (if I remember right). You may be able to get a custom paint job for less than that. However, if you are looking for a second se, it may be cheaper to get the Triumph kit rather than get tank and front fender then have them painted. But the Triumph flame kit isn't bad at at all.

The flames look better in person then in the photos. The kit comes with the tank and front fender. In person they show a little more gold then silver in the flame job.

I tried to post a photo of the bike since I have the flame kit on it but I screwed it up since the photo didn't post. Anyway if you go to my gallery I've got some photos of the bike with the flame kit on it.

Gotta dsagree. The Trump flame paint looks better than the cheap flags, but not by much. Might cost a bit more to get a good custom paint job but IMHO it is worth the $$$ if that is what you want. Mine cost about $1500 but I still look at it sometimes and just have say WOW!

Airguy, your paint looks great.. Unfortunately, I am not in that kind of price range. Wish I was though.
I may be able to get this kit for around $450 (brand new). It sounds like it is worth it, even if just for the new tank & mudguard.

Fred's bike: Airguy's bike: I think it maybe a mattter of style of flames that suits you the best. Airguy's custom flames looks awesome. Fred's flames look great too. Then some people like the realistic flames even better. I like all three, but if I was going to have it on my bike, I prefer the more simpler, old school style of flames similar to the ones on the Triumph kit. But, you have to go with what you like the best. It is your bike. Soren

I absolutley love it! Is that some of that color changing paint or is it multi-color fades? Are we going to see that bike in Idaho? Soren

I saw the tribal paint on the rocket III at the dealer and I was totally unimpressed!!!! looked like a$$ high ridge in the paint at the edge of the graphic, uneven edges, small pin holes in the clear coat at the edges...total crap in my opinion!!!
Cant speak to the BA/Speedmaster flames...but if this is their level of QC on their HIGH ticket bike then no thanks!!!

My local dealer, Charlotte Triumph-Ducati is offering special pricing on all flame kits. I am not sure if all dealers are/will do this though. I am not sure I can pass it up. Even if I want custom paint later, it will give me a second tank so I keep the original one stock.
I am posting in the Classifieds to look for a rear fender if anyone has one available.

Soren,
The initial cost was a little over $800 for the flame kit (tank & front fender). I then recouped some of the money by selling off my original tank and fender so the final cost was a lot less. Ended up being a lot cheaper to go this route then a $1500 paint job. I also found a guy locally who paints cars at a local auto body shop. He also does motorcycle work out of his home. He repainted and added the flames on my rear fender for less then $200 (see my gallery). My suggestion is to look around and check your local body shops for painters before dropping a lot of money at the local "custom paint shop". It could save you a lot of money...
