We just bought the Triumph footboards for my TBA from newbonneville.com and have a question for anyone that has them too. What are the bottoms of these boards suppose to look like? Are they open on yours, like they are on mine, or do they have a chrome covered botttom? Most other brands that I have seen have chrome covering the bottom of their boards. Thanks, Amylee

Like most fine genuine Triumph accessories, the bottom of our floor boards has a bare, pot-metal appearance. Make sure if someone comes over to admire your new $300 floorboards that you pop your foot on top so they can't be lifted for closer examination. After all, beauty is just skin deep, right? <g>

Thanks, I was wondering if anything was left out by accident. They only cost me $240 through newbonneville.com.

Really, that's a pretty good deal. Didn't know Brent was selling Triumph accessories, that might give his business a bad name! Actually, someone wanted to re-chrome their footboards. An aftermarket plater would no doubt do a far nicer job.

Really, Can a chrome cover be made to attach to the bottom of the boards? It might make them look a bit nicer. Oh, Yeah, I ment to say that I bought them through " newspeedmaster.com", but that is the same difference, right? Need to get them mounted and try out soon. The weather here today is 75 and supposed to be in the 80's by this weekend.

I meant to just chrome the top and bottom of the floorboard. Triumph only does the tops, same for the inside of the passenger peg covers and probably a few other things. I guess the underside would be more exposed to corrosive elements, but any chrome on the bike should be able to take the weather.

I think you will like the footboards, they give you some room to move around. As to chrome, Triumph doesn't chrome any surface they don't have to... If you try 'em and you like 'em and still want the undersides shiny, I'd recommend you just get them rechromed somewhere. It's expensive, but what isn't???

As most have already stated the bottoms are crap, like a lot of the Factory High Quality Top Notch Best Money Can Buy chrome. Any decent plater can do the job 10x better. My main complaint is that the little 'hero pegs' don't throw enough sparks. I drag mine quite a bit and they scrape nicely, but nice sparks would add to the effect and scare the HD guys behind me even more.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

Hi AmyLee, The ones I've seen are open and ugly. Hope you never have to look at them - that would mean something bad. However, I am sure somewhere Triumph will give you an opportunity to purchase a chrome bottom cover and I bet it'll cost you big bucks. Take Care, Dennis

Ha, I like that Pat! Most of my HD friends bikes are so low, they drag the floorboards around every corner. Guess I need some better tires & suspension bits, only remember touching my "hero pegs" down once!

I took the bike out for the first time today with the footboards on. I really like them. I thought they would be kind of awkward, but they were easy to use. I doubt I will go back to pegs. My husband (HabuBA) got his '04' TBA a couple of weeks ago. Of course he is working on getting it just the way he wants it. If you want to check out his new ride he has a pic of it in his gallery.

Hey AmyLee, Once the things are on, unless someone picks up the board, they will likely not see the bottoms, unless you park on it's handle bars or on it's side. Not recommended. Pat, How in the heck do you guys get those boards to drag!!! I have had my bike laying out to where the tires were starting to slip and I was no where near the boards! You have way too much cool brother! ed

Agreed, I only touched them once and it scared the crap out of me. Pat's done some suspension work, I think my stock suspension just won't comfortably allow those kind of lean angles (and stock tires).
