Yesterday, I needed to go out at lunchtime and as I got to the motorcycle parking area and was starting the Beauty, putting on my helmet etc, to what should my wondering eyes appear but a black and silver BA pulling in. Never have I seen this machine in town before...I was convinced I had the only BA in town. Turns out to be an '01, pretty much bone-stock except for a backrest, rear carrier, Triumph bags and a non-Triumph windshield...maybe TOR's, not sure ...but still has the AI even! (and the blued pipes to go along with it). Only about 18K km (just under 11K miles). I talked to the guy a bit, and he mentioned he'd like a little more power (hmmm, where've I heard THAT before?). I told him of some of the mods he could do to improve that, and he seemed to feel he was not "mechanically inclined" enough. Of course, I raved about this site, and STRONGLY suggested he check it out and get into some of these mods, along with a service manual. Hope to see him come by here, even as a lurker initially.

It's always cool to see another one of our bikes. Especially someone that just got theirs.

Man Dave! It's NO WONDER that you Hosers are so good at catching idiots who want to blow you guys up BEFORE they can succeed with their dastardly plans! You people up there in the "Great White North" seem to ALWAYS be "ahead of the curve". Evidently you CANADIANS must have gotten YOUR Bonnie Americas A WHOLE YEAR before they even hit the market TOO! (ahem....even though the first ones left Hinckley in 2001, 2002 was the first official "year designation" for these beauties, dude...I know...I gots me one of the first ones) Cheers, Dwight (BTW...Lets hear it for the RCMP!!!...hey!...maybe the FBI can take some lessons from you guys up there....EH?!)

Well Dave...THAT'S okay! I've been known to be wrong a few times too! EXCLUDING, of course, ANYTHING related to the topics of POLITICS and RELIGION, that is! Cheers, Dwight (I'm "ALWAYS RIGHT" when I venture into THOSE arenas)

I thought I was wrong once, but it turned out that I was mistaken.

I left work at 7pm the other day and lo and behold, what is parked right next to my Speedmaster in the employee area but a brand spanking new gold 675 Daytona. Ooooh, purdy. After I get back from TCH this weekend I'll have to find out whose it is.

Depends on the country.
We had this 'conversation' awhile ago. Someone in OZ said he had an 01 and was quickly taken to task (myself included). However, his title/tag/whatever stated it was an 01!

That may be Phil but the Triumph site lists no accessories for any Americas until 2002 regardless of any country chosen

Phil, I think the Aussie could have been a bit confused. My BA's date of manufacture on also shows the somewhat infamous date of "09/01", and I know I received one of the first BA out there on the market, as a 2002 model.(couldn't wait to get it once I read[over and over and over] Alan Carthcart's review of it in July's 2001 Motorcyclist Magazine, in which he rode one of the first ones) Cheers, Dwight (I sometimes feel that my bike is somewhat of a special tribute to the "spirit of America's fortitude" given by the Brits after that dark day of the 11th......Ya see, those d*mn Frogs gave us a freakin' STATUE...hell, you can't RIDE that thing!!!)

I hear ya'll but his was listed as an 01. Mine was made in 08/01 and I still call it an 02, Florida calls it an 02, and Triumph calls it an 02. Hopefully, someone or more will chime in from overseas....

Same thing happened to me a few weeks back. I went to a local bike night with some friends (it's right around the corner from me and I've never gone in the last four years). I spy a black BA which I've never seen before. I know of the other red BA and a yellow SM but not this one. He's still got the AI in as well. We talked for a bit since I didn't know who had it until he showed up to leave. I told him about the site and to PM me if he joined so we could get together but so far nothing.
It was kind of nice to hear him start it up, reminded me of the old days. My friends couldn't believe that mine had sounded like that when I first got it.
