I'm all for free enterprise, and any source for aftermarket goodies for our bikes. But this guy, and another guy on ebay who sells chrome baubles, appear to have gotten their ideas from Brent and from members on this site. That is, unless there is some other site that is devoted to our bikes out there in cyberland..... Is that a good thing or a bad thing??? I don't know. But something about it rubs me the wrong way. I guess there are no patents on these ideas, but it still kinda irritates me. End of sermon.

Actually Grump, that IS one of our members - SRS - and a lot of his stuff actually predates the equivalents from Brent. Where it doesn't it's a different style, much like fasteddy's wire retainers or boogieman's rear fender bibs differ from Brent's.
Given how many people there are who say "I wish there were more people making custom parts for our bikes" it doesn't make sense to grumble about it when it happens.
Hooray for free enterprise.

Matt,
I must have missed SRS membership on here, maybe the guy on ebay (I think he's in the UK) is a member as well. Maybe it was a mis-placed grumble. But, Brent has provided a lot of stuff over the years, and a lot has been based on the requests and input from the members of this site.
It's no big deal. Just an impression I had.

SRS - Stuart Stevenson. He's a plumber who fabs the parts on the side. I've dealt with him a couple of times and been pleased. Good guy, and occasional poster here.
The guy from the UK does his stuff in polished stainless.
Said Molly to James, that's a fine motorbike.

Grump
I think the UK guy is a member here under the name Johnnybiscuit?
While I understand your comments about Brent, you are in the enviable position of not being held to ramson by the taxman the way we are over here.
Everytime we want to buy something over $30, we may become liable for import duty and/or VAT which can add over 50% to the cost of goods. (Unless you are a lucky bugger like Grzegorz )
I guess it is possible that Brent may loose a few bucks in sales from UK members, but I am sure that over 95% of his sales come from the US and he will not notice this too much. As much as I want to keep buying from Brent to thank him for his past (and future)efforts, I have to look after the pennies as much as the next man.

It is english slang and in this instance it means " person" ie you lucky person! so you should laugh
It does have other meanings which would not be funny!!

Grump One should find out the facts before one opens their mouth (or their keyboard)!!! Brent has some great bits and pieces and I have actually bought from him on a several occassions, but I do take offence to you saying I copy from him. My designs are purely "MY" designs. End of sermon.

Sometimes timing is everything!
One could look and say that I (Tmax and I) copied Stewart on the Chrome wire holder. In actuality, we had been discussing it and in process for the first run in production when we saw similar on eBay (Think it was SRS) on eBay. Had it not been that I would have pulled it, but since it was done and shipping made it competitive for me, we kept at it.
As dumb luck would have it, Brent came up with his but in a different design at about the same time too.
Now I didn't have any fore knowledge of either before entering into it. But they say competition is good for the market. And ya know what, I support Brent by buying from him and have been looking at some of the stuff for my wish list from England and Australia too!

I've bought stuff off of both Brent and Stuart and would not hesitate to use either again, but I guess I should try JohnnyB as well ( especially as he is the "local" boy to me! )

It all comes down to "see a need, fill a need" competition drives down prices especially if it's the same part. However not good for us who sell, but good for the consumer.
If it can't be bought, I'll make it. If it can be bought i'll make it anyway!

Not to hi-jack a thread, but I say the more the better!. We've been making parts for going on 2 years. Always better for the customer to have choices. I, too, buy from Brent. Not a problem for me.
