For sometime I have been looking for a wind screen. I like my bike without one, but we have some mean winds here. Most that I have seen including Triumph's looks tacky. I wanted one that works, of course, but also looks like it belongs on my bike. Well, WindVest did it for me. They are great people to talk with and I received mine in 3 days. I got the 16" one. It is very easy to adjust for each person. The workmenship of the screen and fixings are outstanding. The little whoopti doo at the top of the screen really works.

I believe if I were to get one ...that might be it. Dang near invisible on the bike. I would think that would be what you want on the BA/Speedmasters. A windshield that is functional/ easy to install/remove and when its on its freaking near invisible.

The Windvest is my next purchase. I just put on Brent's low prof. seat which makes my slipstreamer way too big now. I also dig the look without a screen, so quick release is a higly desired feature for me.

With shipping it was about $371.00. It is very easy to remove. Four allen screws and in a minute she's off. I have found only two minor minuses. The cross-bar goes accross the speedo, just above the word Triumph, only blocks the visability of the 120 mph point. The other is while it rains you will still get rain on your helmet. It's like standing in the rain, not being driven onto it. Well now you have to stick your head out into the slipstream to blow the rain off. (haha). I really like the thickness of the screen it not flimsy like some I have seen.

Thanks RobBA05. I use a Mac so don't have a right click. When I open the large photo I get the address at the top of my screen. That is what I put in the image address, but it does't work. I will have to find out how I can get the proper address.

Dave, on a Mac to "right click" you hold the control button and click. A "control click" is the equivalent which allows you to view conceptual menus. There are conceptual menus all over your Mac - try control clicking on a window, folder, or icon.

Thanks RamSound. Boy do I feel dumb. I have been using a Mac for years and never needed to use this feature.

as much as i hate to have given in to a screen, i did, and i am patiently waiting for a 14x14 from windvest.
don't like th elook of a screen, but i was really happy riding behind one while i was in georgia.

quick release is a beautiful thing.

I have the slipstreamer viper. Just going to use it for longer trips. It pops off quick-it's cheap. Just what I wanted.

Dave, that looks great.

Right now I have the Triumph flyscreen but would consider the Windvest. I've seen them in person and they're heavy duty, high quality.
The Triumph flyscreen is just a little too small for anyone over 6 foot tall or so.
Just wondering, how tall are you?

Kevin, I am 5'-10" and shrinking. I am almost 65. The 16" can be adjusted down as much as two inches.

Erwin, I will get that driver's view that you want, but it will be early next week.

Mert, you won't regret it. I resisted it for 10,000 miles. It makes you feel like you are in a Spit Fire or P-51 Mustang.

I see Windvest has a "widebody" screen which is 16" x 16".
Even though I like my Memphis Shades AlleyCat I decided I want those brackets off my forks (since I just stopped by the harley shop and let me tell you, some of those windshields look sharp).

The chrome brackets on the windvests HAVE to look sharp and quality.

Maybe around Christmas I'll place an order for the windvests and sell off my Memphis alleycats.

Here's a pic of the 16" Windvest with Buckhorn bars.....

And here's an old pic of the same Windvest on stock America bars...

The setup on a Speedmaster is probably different enough that part of the speedo may be blocked, but that wasn't a problem on my America.

Here's a closer look at the mounts. Notice the square spacer (you can see it on the left, my cel phone is hooked over the right) that is used to get the screen out past the speedo...

I've got a 16" Windvest (smoke tint) and I love it. It's very well made and does a great job.

I tried a 16x16 on my Speedmaster, but the master brake resevoir is in the way for the Windvest bracket.

Great product.

Thanks for the pics Grump. Just what I wanted to see...I wondered if the extension was needed. I like it, and to see it with the buckhorns is an added bonus. Those might be on my Christmas list also!

Hey Don,

Do you get any wind coming up from underneath the shield? Are the extenders/spacers extra?

Phil, I would suggest calling to place an order (408-377-7323).

The screen itself is based on the make/model of your bike. (ie: the screen for our Triumphs has the speedy cutout)

The hardware is based on the make/model as well.

If you changed bars from stock, let them know.

They are very good at letting you "try out" a wind screen on for size. I started with a 14", tried it out for a good bit, then exhanged it for the 16".

Phil,
Everything comes as a package for 1 price.

As far as wind coming from where - I really can't answer that... this screen doesn't block all the wind. I didn't want a w/s in the first place, but the head buffeting was driving me nutzo. This screen stops that. I also have a visor on my headlight (tho none on the lightbar) which is also supposed to help redirect the wind.

Helpful, ain't I???

Sorry, just don't like the "Windvest", looks too something or another, I'm lookin hard for the classic roadster screen look, e-bay has a nice roadster screen off of a Suzuki Marauder 800 that I would like to bid on....

I'm still torn over this. The Windvest is a nice quality and I like that it's removable. I don't want a full-time windscreen on my bike. In my opinion, they detract from the great lines of the bike. However, I also realize I want sometthing to cut down the high-speed, long-ride highway wind, or the wind on cold days.

And they ain't cheap...
Arggh...
