I agree with Frank. I put the 412's on this spring and wish I would have gotten the 440's

I got the 440's for the back and Progressive's springs for the front. Handling and ride are definitely better. I think you'd be pretty happy...

What settings are you guys using on the 440's? When I ordered mine, they said there isn't the "HD" model anymore... sorta freaked me out at first. the ride is awesome, but I'm worried about two up.

How many of those little indicator notches are showing on the black part?

Riding solo, which is 99% of the time, mine are at the first ring (I tip the scales at about 160lbs). With my wife on back I set them to the second ring and all is well. I found the ride to be more harsh riding solo even with the shocks at the second ring, so the preload seems to be pretty high. At the fifth ring it would probably be like riding a hardtail!

Are yours the "HD" model? As in heavy duty? Cause mine aren't... I'm on 3 rings now, I'm more like 250 tho... So maybe that's right for me. I just find it weird that over large humps or dips in the road, not sharp bumps, but like speed bumps, my shocks top out, like they are launching me off the other side!

Errrr, good question. The short answer is I don't know. They were purchased from mawonline and the part # is 4404214C. No problems with them topping out though.

OK I think the HD model (according to pat) has an HD at the end. Or an H. Yeah it's weird, I go over a big dip or bump, and comming off the other side I feel the shocks go out to full extension. Maybe it's just the nature of bumps like that.

At 170 Lbs i use 1/2 turn for in town riding. When i hit the twisties i stop and turn em up to 2 turns. Worlds of difference ! However, lately i've just left them at 2 all the time. It's a bit stiff, but the handling feels more stable and safety is #1, so i just left it there after the last mountain ride. But if you wanna float along, 1/2 turn sure is nice.I'd use that for long freeway rides. Whats so great about the 440's is that you can adjust them by hand, so you just pull over any time and in a few seconds you're off again with a totally different feel.
