I have a weird thing going on, if i am going about 60 or so and let of the throttle sometimes the front tire states to wobble, if i have both hands on the bars it does not do it. is this just because i have one hand on the bars? i changed bars to prison bars and 6 inch risers. i have not changed out mirrors so i am using the stock mirrors( or sails) i am thinking the stock mirrors are acting like sails and causeing the wobble? so what do ya'll think.

the dog.

my guess is that your front wheel may be slightly out of balance, or perhaps you have a little uneven tire wear...are you running stock tires? just to eliminate the mirror possibility, take them off and go for a ride and see if the problem persists...my 2p...

I'd check for cupping or uneven tire wear. Also would put her up in the air and check wheel bearing play. I just had to replace mine at 14,500. I think my case is probably isolated and very premature, but, who knows.

Also be sure to check your rear wheel alignment. A crooked rear wheel will do the same thing.

Mine did the same thing. Kind of freaked me out at the time. All it was, was that it was low on air. Even a few pounds can make that difference. Make sure it is right. fixed mine right up.

Me too also after I put buckhorn bars on my TA. 34 psi in the front tire cured it.

Mine wobbles to at that speed. Always has. Replaced both tires, Progessive fork springs, Checked this and that and it still wobbles on decel at about 50. But as you said I dont notice it with both hands on the bar. I don't know.

A simple way is to count the number of threads (use a toothpick) showing on each adjuster. If you have a lift, you can sit behind the bike and lok down the side of the wheel as you spin it. You should be able to see if it is cocked at all that way.

Dog, I would think if your rim is bent, or out of round, or you have a tire problem your bike would wobble at 50 or when ever and not just when you let off the gas.

With bike parked (sitting on it) wobble forward and back grabbing the front break and listen for neck bearing to pop or shake, (noise)

what year is your bike, I thought their was a problem with americans wheel bearings, possably a re-call. please correct me if im misinformed.

many ways to check wheel alingment, wet street in front of house i hope its flat, ride through and look at tracks

let go of handlebars while driving and see if it drifts. most roads are crowned and will pull very slight to right (USA)

Have buddy sit on bike upright pointing stright take floricent light bulb place on sidewall of rear tire and compair to front, dont forget offset. rear tire wider then front..... check both sides.

i would start with buying a good tire guage, my bike loosen bout 3.0 lbs per week in front, allmost nothing in rear.

let us know what happens,

Robert in Utah

i called the dealer i got the bike from hermy's cycle in pa.
he told me that triumph use to make a riser and drag bar for america models but stopped because of this wobble that would come after you changed out he said, it could be the tire not designed for the difference, the speedmasters front tire is a metzer, so maybe it is just that.

Pat, I tried your recommendation. I counted the threads with the tooth pick in my mouth. It didn't help me count, but I think I looked pretty cool. I'm gonna use sun glasses next time, too.

Just kidding folks - The tooth pick idea is an excellent way to keep focused and get an accurate count - especially with aging, strained eye sight.

Might be able to add another possibility to wobbles in addition to faulty front wheel bearing, tire wear, misalignment, balance, pressure, spokes.

Found out today the front fork oil was low and/or wore out. Drained, replaced and my 2 year wobble quandary appears to be over. Don't know what was in there originally, but it was replaced with 20W. The steering head bearing also needs replacing, but that seemed secondary as a cause for the wobbles. Running straight and true now. Maybe.

I look forward to hearing more about weather the fork oil changes helped, as I have a 2002 TBA, getting on 4 years old now.

Mine did that with the original Bridgestones but it hasn't happened since I put the Venoms on. I'm guessing the balance was fixed.
