i have made a bracket to mount a brake line splitter under my lower yoke. i was wondering if anyone has run seperate brake lines down to each caliper instead of the current setup on the speedmasters. Is there a reason why Triumph never done this. Does the master cylinder need upgrading or would it work ok? I dont want to spend money on the braided lines and then find the brakes are not as effective as they were. Any help, tips or info would be much appreciated.

The reason Triumph never did this is "cheap". Your proposal involves an extra bracket, mounting bolt(s), splitter block, banjo fitting and brake line. As you must be aware by now, these bikes are built down to a price - cost-paring is very evident (shox, fork springs, spokes etc. etc.). Your plan should work OK - the master cylinder will still have to move the same volume of fluid so it should not need upgrading (although I've heard that some people have used the RIII master cylinder with some success - it has a bigger swept volume and moves more fluid and gives a bit more power.) Let us know how you get on.

Jan

Just spoke with a chopper shop today about a new fende to fit my new whitewalls and add break lines and he said that mfgs do this because it is cheep. You actually get more breaking power with two seperat lines. I am going to keep the same setup but go to the braided though. He thinks it will look good going over the new fender.

I've changed mine to twin lines by putting a 90 degree banjo on the master cylinder. Other than being a real pain to bleed it initially, it's been fine.
I've been told that you can pump the new brake fluid from the calipers up to the master cylinder using a syringe, but as I didn't have one, I had to do it the normal way.
